2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
750ml bottle shared by bring on BA. Pours medium amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is bretty funk, slightly sweet malt, and fruity/grape skin notes. Flavor is a little weird - pale malt, nail polish, red wine, brett, and faded hops. Not sure where this one is going. Mildly tart on the palate with medium body. Overall, this is an average sour at best. A reason why I donít put much effort into seeking out Bullfrogís absurdly rare beers.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled on 4/16/2010. This sour ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 750ml bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, tart and funky. A medium bodied sour. The malts are fruity, funky and tart. There is a very nice balance between the tartness and fruit in this beer. Nice lively carbonation. The tartness kind of sneaks up on you, before you realize it bam there it is. There is a touch of wood and oak as well, but way underneath the tart/funk. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is tart. Thanks to Lagunitas fan for this one.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at RBWG 2010. Awesome sour ale aroma, but the flavor is roastier and maltier than I thought it would be. Still good, though.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A: The pour is a hazy burnt orange color with a thin layer of white foam.
S: The nose has a lactic tartness to it which goes along nicely with the fruitiness in the background. The funk is mild, but thereís a nice earthy component to the beer along with some good oak aromas.
T: The flavor was not quite as intriguing as I had hoped. The beer is very earthy and tannic with plenty of oak character. The fruit has seemed to drop off a bit and the tartness is not as pronounced as I would have thought.
M: The body is medium with plenty of carbonation and a very dry finish with perhaps a bit of alcohol warmth (not sure where that came from).
D: Another "interesting" beer from Bullfrog that didnít quite hit the mark. Yet another "Iím glad to have tried it" beer.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL bottle at Woodshop 5.0, courtesy of lagunitasfan. Thanks, Tim! Pours a bright, deep golden color; head quickly dissipates. Lots of brett (lime, crackers), light citrus tartness, honey, and intensely aromatic floral character; lovely stuff. Medium body: lively carbonation; lots of honey, lightly tart brett and a nice toasty core; beautiful display of brettanomyces here, if not a whole lot of additional character. Lasting bitter finishing, showing lots of toastiness and hints of lemon rind.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hoppy yet weirdly bretty and funky nose comes off this cloudy dark orange fluid. The head lay as a flat, thin sheet. Flavors were hoppy like apricot and other fruity ways with a little bretty funk behind it. Hop notes are fresh and piercing yet the brett notes are bandagy & funky. THis is the way belgian ipas should always go...a little plasticy maybe, but quite enjoyable none the less.

Thanks to LagunitasFan who brought this bottle to the Woodshop 5.0 tasting.
this nicely done ale has interesting complexity w/ the vinuous characteristics of the wine barrel along w/ its hoppiness.
