Bullfrog Friar Frog Dubbel

On tap. Pured a dark mahagony color with a small off white head. Aroma and tastes of dark fruits and toffee. Not a bad dubbel. Rerate. 750ml bottle shared courtesy of weare128128adbc##-=. Poured a deeper amberish color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of dark fruits, cherries, yeast, and some nuttiness. Tastes of dark fruits,caramel, and some nuttiness. This one had a sour and tartness that seemed out of place.

(750ml bottle) Pours a cloudy amber-brown body with a moderate beige head. Aroma of raisins, mustiness, toffee, figs, brown sugar, and some sour citrus. Flavor of raisins, grapes, rum, light funkiness, caramel, and toffee.

Growler from Kramer17801. The pour is dark brownish and ruddy, with khaki head. Aroma of caramel scotchy malts, a solid dose of dark fruit (figs, cherry), banana, and some brown sugar. Medium palate with caramel malt in the flavor, plus toffee, brown sugar, some cherry, figs, and a little finishing cognacy heat. Nicely done, and a solid selection for my Bullfrog cherry-popping!

Ommegang fest. Brown ale with a ginger aroma. Nice caramel malt with light balanced hops and smooth alcohol finsih. Some coriander notes. Pleasant.

Previewed this somewhat yeasty experiment. Full flavour and sweet. Will be less sweet as it ages. Liked the yeast aroma and taste, chewy mouthfeel.

Thanks to my wife for bringing this for me from the brewery. It presented muddy, river-bottom brown with a fizzy stir. Sweet brown-sugary aroma. Super sweet beer -- thick with flavor, but sugary sweet. But there’s also a definite sweettart feel to it as well. This is a super dark beer that flirts with the Belgian sour family. Poured a burgandy color with a thin, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of banana chips, coconuts, and yeast. Taste of raisins, prunes, cherries, and yeast, peppery alcohol leading way to a dry finish.

Draft at Capone’s last year. Pours a brown hazy body with a 2 finger tan head. Honey, dark fruit, raisin, plum, alcohol latent fruit. Accents of chocolate and rum. Velvet mouthfeel with a vinous finish.
