| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 15, 2007 On tap at the brewery. Sweet malty roasted grains with light fruity esters and a nice bit of hops presence. Dark amber clear with and off-white lacing head. Medium-heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Great malt start, sweet with heavy malt presence, red licorice, mild diacetyl, some molasses and candi sugar. A bit of ozone burn which is odd, but overall a good sweet dubbel with some estery yeastiness. kmweaver (2502), Sebastopol, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Draft @ Bullfrog. Pours a dark, murky cola-brown color; light tan head with excellent, fine-bubbled lacing. Brown sugar, pepper, and esters in the aroma; a solid dubbel profile. Very lively in the mouth: fluffy brown sugar, cola, and Belgian sugars; slightest creamy malt heft; well-attenuated, well-balanced, and very drinkable; none of that abrasive brown sugar or muddled character of lesser dubbels; straightforward and solid. Lengthy, brown sugar and estery finish; some basic sugar and dough. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 6, 2005 Updated: Jun 28, 2006I am fond of Dubbels in general but was a bit underwhelmed by this one. Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a medium dark brown with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is sweet and sugary with a hint of alcohol burn. The flavor is sweet with heavy Belgian candi sugar notes. The malts are milder than I would expect from this style. The alcohol burn dominates this one too much. The finish is a bit sharp and biting. travita (1970), Frisco, Texas, USA
