Nate (2162), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 15, 2007 On tap at the brewery. Sweet malty roasted grains with light fruity esters and a nice bit of hops presence. Dark amber clear with and off-white lacing head. Medium-heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Great malt start, sweet with heavy malt presence, red licorice, mild diacetyl, some molasses and candi sugar. A bit of ozone burn which is odd, but overall a good sweet dubbel with some estery yeastiness.
Naka (362), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 2, 2008 Sampled a small bit at Pints for Pets. Poured a hazy deep brown amber color. I got a pretty small sample so the head was pretty non-existent. The taste has a weird salty character, but I got pretty much the bottom of the bottle. There is a ton of apple and cherry flavor in this brew. A pretty good thickness to it. An ok dubbel. illinismitty (1313), Nashville, Tennessee, USA May 28, 2008 Draft at Arena Grill in Wilkes Barre, PA. Pours a dark murky brown with a tan head. Flavor of dark fruit, yeast, brown sugar. Nice amount of sweetness with an accent of mustiness. Some phenols on the tail end. Not bad at all. Ty5592 (1000), Hatfield, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 18, 2008 Updated: May 30, 2008Draft at Capone’s a few weeks ago. Dark amber color with small tight head. Aroma of sweet malt and dark fruits, maily plums. The taste was the same with creamy sweet plummy finish. Pretty good. pineypower (839), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Apr 6, 2008 Tap at Capone’s. Pours out dark, muddy brown, tiny white head. Aroma of dark fruit and some yeast. taste is very smooth, creamy mouthfeel with sweet fruit, yeast and slight peppery notes on the finish. bigrond (843), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 2, 2008 this was a nice representation of a Belgium brew. It had a ’trappist’ feel to it and an expected finish. Very easy drinking - smooth brew. If you like a moderate Belgium flavor - this is your beer.
