3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
25 oz bottle, from brewery. Pours a clear dark amber to light brown body with a one finger tight bubbled light beige head that had pretty good retention due to a good bit of visible carbonation. A good deal of raw oak on the nose with some slightly husky caramel and toffee malts. Some brown sugar and dark cherry notes as well. The sweet malt and oak flavors battle for dominance with the sweet toffee winning up front but the slightly tannic raw oakiness winning on the finish. The flavor is not quite as full, rich, or heavy as I was expecting for a Scotch Ale, and it’s actually a bit thin underneath all the oak. The more I drink the more I get this fruity dark cherry note that I really wouldn’t expect for the style. No hint of alcohol at all however, which is nice considering it’s 8 % ABV. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thinner side for such a hefty beer, but at least it’s not cloying or sticky. Nice fairly lively pinpoint carbonation. Overall, pretty good, but I think that the base beer leaves a bit to be desired in its own right. The oak doesn’t really make it better, just different.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Courtesy GoT. Clear dark ruddy brown color, thin broken white head. Nice sweet aroma, caramel, dark fruits, mild oak. The taste is mostly sweet rick malt accented by oak notes, and a finish that is not overly sweet and actually a little crisp. Not cloyig at all, and the oak comes out sparingly.

Thanks to Kramer for getting this to me. Pours brown with a good amount of carbonation. Medium mouthfeel with vanilla and oak coming through in the nose. Malty flavor, with cherries and more vanilla and oak. Creamy.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to pantanap for sharing this beer. Pours a brown with an off white soapy white soapy head. Aromas of chocolate, sugars, red fruit, and slightly sour aromas. Sweet malt flavors honey fruity, oak, and spritzy. Not what I think of with a scotch ale, but a tasty beer none the less.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy, dark crimson color with a brownish tint. A foamy, beige colored head leaves spotty rings of lacing on the glass. The nose gives notes of deeply toasted caramel malt, rich toffee, and hints of cocoa, all wrapped up in a shroud of oaky vanilla and hints of roasted nuts. Bready yeast makes itself known as well. The whole package sort of smells like fresh baked cookies, something nobody in their right mind can fault! The flavor follows suit, mostly sweet, toasty, and malty, with big caramel-toffee and doughy yeast. Substantial in body and perhaps just a hair overly carbonated for the style. Very good brew overall.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle... C&P’sLYFO Throwdown... Murky, dark, caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, taupe head. The nose provides wonderful, rich notes of gooey, buttery caramel, whiskey and medium roasted barley malt. Full-bodied and a bit oily with skittish carbonation. Sweet, toasted, caramelized flavor – low bitterness, but not at all cloying – a dash of sourmash whiskey as well. Finishes mildly sweet, buttery and caramelly. Delicious! Thanks so much to Beerlando for providing the bottle of this fine brew!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep mahogany with a thin tan head... Very fragrant aroma of cherry and vanilla... Flavor to me is more of the cherry and vanilla with a definite brandy like quality... Odd fizzy throat feeling going down... Medium to full bodied, silky smooth masks the alcohol well, interesting beer, very nicely done, worth trying...
