COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Flemish style sour ale initially brewed as our quad, aged for two years in second generation red wine barrels that previously held Jaspers. Blended then steeped with Montmorency sour cherries and bottle conditioned with Belgian candi sugar, Oud 15 represents the culmination of 15 years of brewing, and is worthy of the commemoration.

This is a brown amber beer w/ no head. It’s sour w/ lots of cherry and other pleasant oxidized notes. It’s also not too sweet which is a frequent problem w/ this style.

Bottle shared at the RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting (St. Louis, MO). Pours a deeper brownish hue, gentle deep ruby glow with gentle ring of frothy ring laces as a loose bubbly offwhite ring. Aromas are deeper, significant cherry and cranberry, firm sourness and tannic berryskin. Touches of red wine, balsamic, a darker malt element. Initial is pretty tart, touches of dark fruit, cherry and plum, some gentle orange. Medium lactic acidityt, a touch balsamic with a dark slant at times into the backend. A touch carmelized, some stickiness with mellow oak, touches of gentle biscuit and caramel. Really nice, a bit more fruity with some sweetness, firmer body with a bit of acidity as we trail off. Nice.

Shared at RBSG 2014. Inviting aroma of fruity sweet tarts and berries. Taste is initially fruity with a sweet malt character to it. Sort of grapey and tart, warming in the chest. Pleasant balance of fruit and sour.
