Sampled on draught at Pints for Pets. Light dry grainy nose. Mild tang and a bit of smoke. Mild spicy character, too, with some leather. Medium copper-amber hazy with medium off-white lacing head. Medium body with medium-heavy carbonation. Starts with apple and yeasty funk and refreshing effervescence. Nice spicy character. Mild sweetness throughout and a dry nutty bitter finish and after with a light tangy note. Nice ale.

From a bottle that is likely 3 years old. Brown-amber, a puffy off white foam. Aroma is dark pit fruits, caramel, toffee, some alcohol spicing, definitely a bit old. Taste is similar, cherry, fig, caramel, toffee, probably held this one too long.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hopdog (7043) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 8, 2009
750ml bottle. Walking up from the ’cellar’ I decided to open this on the porch since I don’t fully trust some corked bottles. I’m sure glad I did. This let out a huge pop followed by a long stream of beer. This one also kept creeping out of the bottle and was almost impossible to pour. Took a long time, but settled into a deeper and hazy amber color. Aromas of yeast, breadiness, earthy, and toasted caramel. Tastes of yeast, some fruitiness, caramel, and lighter earthiness.
