COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Mardi Gras 2010 brewer for a day winner Doug Strouse’s remarkable homebrew, scaled up and brewed here for all to enjoy. Big raspberry nose and flavor (84 pounds worth) with a creamy, chocolate counterpart. Everybody thank Doug for this one, I know I do!

On tap at Bullfrog - December 11, 2010. Pours quite dark with a fairly-nice light tan head and a touch of lacing on the glass. The nose starts out with an overpowering amount of raspberries. Once I am used to that, I get some nice chocolate and roast characteristics. Everything doesn’t quite meld in the end, though it’s not nearly as unbalanced as the first whiff. The taste js nice with chocolate and raspberry flavors coming together nicely along with a faint bit of roast in the background. The feel is nice and creamy, just as it should be. Drinks quite well. Flavorful and a nice dessert beer. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 12-17-2010

5oz glass at the brewery pour was a reddish black with one finger of tan head. Not much going on in the nose with this brew the only thing I could detect was raspberries. Taste was strong raspberry, chocolate and malts and maybe a hint of vanilla in the finish not big on raspberries but still a good brew.

5oz sample from a flight. Pour is deep cola with an inch of beige foam on top. Nose is raspberries, cough syrup, and malt. Taste is the same with a medicine/raspberry finish. This is not bad, but it would be much better without the medicine thing going on.

Draft at brewpub. Surprisingly great stuff. The creamy raspberry flavor is lightly sweet with a tart finish. Full bodied and lightly carbonated. Sweet aroma of raspberries and chocolate. Highly drinkable for a beer like this because of the tartness of the raspberries.

On tap, at brewery. Pours a pitch black body with a small foamy light brown head that retained as a thin covering. The nose is really well balanced between the fruit, roast, and lactose. Chocolaty and with real raspberry fruit, this one is a delight for the nose. The flavor starts out chocolaty and sweet with a nice roastiness, while the raspberry comes on strong towards the finish lingering nicely. I love the sweetness from the lactose and the slight tartness from the berries balancing each other out. Medium bodied and smooth drinking with soft gentle carbonation. Overall a very nice beer!
