Bottle shared at Tower of Sour Power, I think this was DarkGuardian again. Bullfrog doesn’t make a bad beer. Sort of a cocky statement but everything I’ve had from them is just superb. Good sour aroma and flavor with a nice balance of fruit and sour tartness.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 Bottle #150 A: Dark brown with a slight reddish hue. Slightly transparent around the edges when held to the light. Some yeast in suspension with quite a bit of debris settling in the bottom. Moderate sized off-white head forms with a vigorous pour before forming a nice skim with 80+% coverage. Nice bubbly ring. Spotty lacing. S: First blast is of slightly sour cherries. The fruit is followed by a nice earthy oak character along with hints of vinegar, red wine, and some brett to round things out. Suggestive of a moderately sour and tart flavor to come. T: The cherries fade a bit to the back as the red wine, vinegar and oak move toward the forefront. Nice level of acidity and tartness lifts the flavors to the tip of the tongue. The dark cherries lend some sourness toward the tail end of each sip. M: Smooth, medium bodied. Acidity, tartness and sourness are all present without being too punishing. All in all the beer is delightfully restrained in all aspects. A nice lingering funk is pleasant as well. O: A top notch flanders red. A great release with a great beer. Will savor my remaining bottles over the next few years.
