Thanks to ericandersnavy for sharing this bottle. Bottle 370 of 378. The beer pours a reddish-amber color with a white head. The aroma is sour cherries with some caramel malt. The flavor is light funk, oak, tart cherries and vanilla. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A very good sour beer that lived up to the expectations I had.

In short: A tasty and a bit rustic/dirty sour ale with a classic Flemish Sour personality.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed relatively fresh a few months after the beer release. Post Mondial 2010 tasting session.
The look: Cloudy dark dirty red body topped by a small beige head
In long: Nose has a lot of oak sourness, rustic character and cherries undertones. This almost smells like a classic Flemish Sour. Taste follows up on the nose. Very grainy cereals, lots of lactic acid, strong oak sourness presence, sour cherries, some berries, some almonds, woodchips, caramel. Meidium sournessa and acidity. This is a tasty beer. Overall I found the beer to be a bit “rough”, almost dirty. I liked it a lot but a little cleaner and this could have been fantastic. This beer was very good, almost excellent. Thanks Rciesla for bringing this bottle to a party at my place. Much appreciated. I do the same. When I’m invited to a party I always bring beer. I always bring at least a six-pack for missing child search party.

Pours brown, thin head. Sweet, full and sour nose...sharp sourness around the edges...clean, sour, perfect sweetness, perfect sourness...I really like the balance of fruitiness, sourness, sweetness, and alcohol warmth here...beautiful balance really....fruity like strawberries...warm like liquor...a touch of solventy funk. I dig it a lot!

askofficerfriendly hooks it up! Reddish brown pour, small tan head. Vinegar, sour cherries, wet oak, chianti wine and some light tart lemony notes. Flavor is sour and acidic but also malty and fruity throughout. Sour cherries, red wine notes, red wine vinegar and some cheesy flavors. Very very good.

Bottle from the brewery, shared with Nate at a Flanders tasting. Dark burgundy in color, mild head settling to a thin ring. Rich, full nose, a lot of the oak barrel and wild yeast. Mostly dark sour cherries, plums. Refined flavor, really classic for the style, starts with those sour cherries and plums going to a complex oaky finish. Brett and wild yeast is everywhere, really well done. This is way better than Oude Tart, right up there with Oerbier Reserva. Not so much vinegar as with more "classic" examples of this style, and more complex and balanced. To steal Nate’s characterization, "subtle and refined".

750ml corked and caged bottle, #95 of 378. Pours a hazy, dark reddish cherrywood color. A small, smooth head of beige foam leaves behind a wash of minimal, wet spotting that mostly rejoins the body. The nose is quite acetic, showing notes of soured wood, lactic bugs, and tangy cherries amidst a softly sweet, amber caramel malt body. There’s a hint of vinegar, along with some fruit skin tannins as well. Flavors are well balanced, with notes of tart, tannic cherry and dark fruit notes being countered by some soft, fruity malts and sweet Balsamic notes. Light, buggy oak funk shows more on each sip as the acetic nature seems to intensify. Medium bodied, and initially crisp and refreshing, the palate is very nicely rounded with subtle residual sugars on the back end. This is a very good sour in the Flemish red mold. Another nice one from Bullfrog.
