DocLock (7824) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 10, 2008
750 CC bottle from PUB’N. Pours turbid deep gold toward orange with 3-finger uniform, creamy white head. Huge cork pop and that lovely smokey waft upon cork pop. Great sticky concentric lace rings. Nose is rock sugar, yeasty spice, florals, peppery and hopcitric notes. Tastes rock sugar and syrupy apricotty at first, with backup hopcitrus, some honey, spicy peppery notes, and a hefty, fairly complex palate. This one is good, not great. The first half is a 3.7, the repour a 3.0, for the 3.3 average, as it gets hot late and falls apart a bit.

Bottle shared by kmweaver on 8/7/08: Hazy cloudy golden pour has a clingy-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet biscuity malts with a touch of fruity tartness. Body starts fairly full with good crystal malty sweetness and tart complex balance with a touch of warmth in the finish. Very true to style and enjoyable.

750 mL bottle. Poured hazy medium orange with a short-moderate cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up a huge dose of tart lighter fruit skins, floral notes, and peppery alcohol over semi-sweet honey.. the blend of components was enjoyable, but it was a touch heavy-handed. The flavor found honey and sliced lighter fruits at the core (think green apple, pear, and some honeydew).. black pepper, tart fruit skins (and maybe a little oak), and a pinch of cinnamon around.. alcohol amplified everything.. spicy, tart finish.. again a bit assertive. Heavier-bodied with thick carbonation on the palate.. OK feel overall, but hot at times. Solid brew.
