UPDATED: JAN 24, 2013 The aroma of the infected yeast overpowers some citrus and pineapple notes. The brew pours golden orange with a very small head. The wild ale flavor from the yeast starts out strong and then leads to citrus flavors that settle with the hops on the tongue.

(Rating #3364)

My Bottom Line:
Coniferous brettanomyces grows through this Wild IPA’s lush hop mangrove, where grapefruit, lime and various other tropical varieties thrive.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam protects the cloudy beige.
-The fruity hop signature is harmonious with the brett’s woodsy fruity nature. The same can be said of the resinous hop finish and the everlasting brett flavor.
-Carbonation is effervescent, but soft on the palate.
-This may be a loud IPA, but it is one in which the volume propels the kind of tune I cannot complain about.
Bottle.

A: The cork is very difficult to coax out of the bottle, but eventually the pour is orange with a thin off-white head.
S: Very fruity and brett forward on the nose. The tropical fruit hop character is still there, but there’s a ton of hot alcohol aroma coming through. Some old gym socks (not in the good, Drie Fonteinen way) and a sort of solventy/chemical note too.
T: When you get the hop flavor, the taste is enjoyable. Unfortunately, that’s only a small portion of it. Those flavors are of grapefruit and pineapple as well as mango. Some earthy funk along with grass and straw. Again, a harsh alcohol and chemical character.
M: The body is medium with an intense carbonation and a very dry and astringent finish.
D: Unfortunately let down by Bullfrog on this one; this beer was really all over the place. The wild IPA idea is one that interests me, but I’m not sure how well it actually works.

750ml bottle @Jimmack Invitational thanks jt?–pours a white ring for a head and cloudy gold color. Aroma is yeast/brett, medium malt. Taste is barn, yeast/brett, medium malt, funky. Not my style.

Thanks to Dosbeerigos for sharing this one. Been an IPA fan for quite some time and now just starting to get into sours. This one is the best of both worlds. Hazy pour with a thin bubbly head. The aroma has a hoppy sour funk to it, can’t really place all the aromas, but outstanding. Has a tart sour flavor, with a hoppy start with a bitter finish. Really enjoyed this one.

Bottle shared at the 2010 jimmack invitational. First let me just say that chocoalte peanut butter is a timeless combination. Brettanomyces and every single style of beer in existance is not necessarily a good idea. This beer poured a murky brown/orange/amber with an averaged sized frothy off white head. The aroma starts off with flowers and hops buth then some horrid brett aroma that smells like manure comes in. Average mouthfeel with a dry finish and a touch of alohol warming. Flavors of wild flowers, dry hops, manure, brett, bread and citrus. Nah not my cup of tea.

Poured a cloudy gold with a one-finger head with average retention for the style. There is some yeast obvious in the pour. Nose produced the expected funkiness, bananas, some citrus and pale malt. Taste has the brett ever-present, interplaying with citrus hops and some funk for sure. End moves to a pleasant, dry, mildly bitter finish. Body was medium with ample carbonation. This was surprisingly interesting and I look forward to retying this soon.

Bottle at Jimmack’s. Pours clear amber with white head. Nose of farmhouse, citrus and hops. Taste of caramel malts and hops, some farmhouse funk, but still very clean beer.

A damn fine beer, I would drink it until my liver gave way. Nothing offensive at all, just beer bliss. Would get again fo sho. The brett kind of overwhelmed the hop aroma a little, but added a nice fruity funky aroma, flavor was very layered, nice amount of bitterness, the brett didnt dry it out beyond all recognition, very tasty.
