Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 15, 2007 On tap at the brewery. This is a cask conditioned scotch ale. Molasses sweet tang, malty with light fruity hops. Apple skins. Medium amber brown clear with foamy off-white lacing head. Medium-heavy body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet. Molasses sweet tang with fruity esters and light yeast. Red licorice and some soy/balsamic sweetness. Alcohol notes. Rich and heavy, a beer to be reckoned with.
SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 17, 2009 750 ml bottle - thanks riversideak!! pours hazy amber with thin off-white head; kind of a poopy, dirty feet aroma to it; musky, oaky and syrupy; foody, teriaki, salad kind of thin; a little buggy and vegi quality to it; quite strange j12601 (1149), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Aug 12, 2009
Bottle courtesy of kramer’s amazing pile of Bullfrog treats at BCTC. Pours a mostly clear brown with a thin white head. Oak and caramel on the nose. Slightly sweet with some esters and acetaldehyde coming through along with some big plum notes.

Very good. larryLSB (139), La Selva Beach, California, USA Mar 11, 2009 Poured from 750ml. Reddish brown in color with white lacy head. Butterscotch and oak flavors, very smooth, overall good. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Mar 2, 2009 Updated: Oct 25, 2009Draft at the brewery. Pours a ruby body with an off white head. Meaty, toffee, chocolate notes, light peat and a dark warming malt bill. Reminds me of seasoned meat and and carrot spice. Odd beer.
Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Feb 9, 2009 Tap at bullfrog- Pours a deep sligh hazy brown with a thin head. Aroma is earthy leather, malt sweetness, caramel and some chocoalt enuttyness. Flavor is a doughy with lots more earht and leather and becomes a bit phenolic with a hint of mintiness and a moderate sweet caramel backbone. Somewhat smooth on the finsih but had an earthy almost smokey bite. fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Oct 31, 2008 Tap. Aroma of gritty, earthy malt, tart fruits (cherry, cassis, or black currant I guess in English), kinda funky with some strawberry yogurt. Flavor has that yogurt character with toffee-ish malt, nuts, lots of earth. Increasing cherry liqueur character combines with the yogurty presence to create an unpleasant taste, mouthfeel, and aftertaste. More than anything else I’ve typed here, this last sentence really sums up the beer for me, as it was not a favorite.
