Sorry folks, this is really bad stuff. Aroma is fair, and appearance is fine, but it goes downhill from there. It has a burned rubber taste and is seems like there was no quality control whatsoever. After awhile you get used to it and I imagine if you are drunk enough you don’t care, but initially it strikes you as an industrial produced cider without much care given to the end product. I can understand why it is cheaper than other ciders on the market, but the reduced price does not justify the inferior product. Steer clear of this one, folks.

Leighton (17770) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 11, 2016
Bottle shared in Watford - bought on sale at some Tesco. Vintage 2011. Pours clear, deep orange with a reddish tint and a frothy film. Decent aroma, actually, with semi-ripe apples, some apple sauce. Medium sweet flavour with flinty notes, a slight artificial tang, juicy apples. Medium bodied with spritzy carbonation. Not nearly as bad as I had feared.

Scopey (11759) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 11, 2016
Bottle, 2011 vintage thanks to Leighton. It pours clear gold with a reddish hue and white head. The aroma is sweet, sugary, sweet apple, touch of apple skin and tannins. The taste is crisp, flat, sugary, apple, candy, touch of tang, hint of tannins with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Thankfully not as sweet as I feared. Not great.

Bottle shared at the Watford tasting, many thanks to Leighton? A weird reddy iramfe clear coloured pour with a fading white head. Aroma is artificial, dry apple, tangy apple hint of bile. Flavour is composed of dry apple, semi sweet, artificial apple, mineral. Palate is thin, spritzy carbonation, semi sweet. Terrible.

33cl bottle at home (8 VI 2016). Swiftly diminishing artificial soda white collar, topping a cognac-like, very clear orange brew. Neat looking cider with a nose of some vague spirit, wild yeasts (brett even), apple juice, geuze. The mouthfeel is pretty well carbonated, with a faint and watery body... all this hides a sweet apple, apple juice soda, mildly sweetened cider. This could have been a top cider, if it just had a firm body richer in taste. The fermentation clearly hints at a lambic funkness. A beautiful premiss, yet the whole is too faint. A pitty!

500ml bottle. Pours clear gold, sparkling. Aroma is syrupy sweet commercial cider. Taste is much of the same, with a rich golden full-flavour, but far too cloying and sickly sweet. Cider for the masses.

(Can 0,5l) (brother brought from Ireland)
Clear, light orange-golden color. Quickly done, white head. Sweet aroma of apples, champagne-like, wine. Taste is sweet with apples. Very fizzy carbonation. Sweet, dry finish. Quite sweet but refreshing.

Cider is not beer and this one is not the best. It’s not a good one. I don’t advice it.

Deze cider heeft een geur die doet denken aan lambiek (in de verte). In de smaak zitten rijpe appelen, maar ook droge, hartige tonen. Niet te zoet.

(33 cl bottle in in rocks-glas.) Pours an apricot to orange hue and the aroma is marked with apples and yeast. The taste has a clear fresh red apple character with a little smoke. Made me want to try it with a peated a dram and yep, that was great! :)
