When I first started drinking I loved cider, especially Scrumpy Jack. However, I really lost the enthusiasm for these brews. This was a unique item, as itís hard to come by different Irish brews. Itís mostly the standards, so this was unusual. Hereís the bad news, it didnít set itself apart from the pack in any way. Itís got that classic tart apple, somewhat vinuous aroma, a slight bit of that yeasty champagne quality. Itís appearance is that clean golden color, with almost no head persay. Not much to look at. Itís taste, nothing unusual, a sour, cider flavour with a bit of acidic sting. The feel is rather normal as well, thin bodied, light on texture, abrupt in finish, and moderately high on carbonation. Nothing special, super forgettable. Snooze-fest.

Nice orangey-pink colour, but not dry enough for my taste. I don't know much about ciders, and this one ain't gonna convert me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

*Bottle in Ireland as Bulmers Original. Smooth and fresh apples. Round and tasty with not too much depth, fruity with nice slightly sourish apples. Sessionable cider.

June 2016 - Bottle shared in Watford as íMagners Irish Ciderí, 4.5%, made in Tipperary. Thanks to Leighton for bringing this 5 year old 2011 bottle. Itís been a long time since I last Magnersed. Clear orange, lightly sparkling, bubbly off-white head. Aroma is syrupy, apple, honey-ish, elderflower. Body is light, tingly carbonation, smooth. Taste is tonic water, light apple, elderflower, flavoured sparkling water. Drinkable but not great. Quite impressed with how it held up. (2.6)

Clear golden colour with no head. A very basic and sweet cider. The type that leaves a stale taste in the mouth.

As far as everyday ciders go this is OK. Taste is fairly sweet, but medium overall. Some sharp and sweet apple flavours as well as some grape, floral and honey flavours that are almost champagne like. Itís too fizzy, but easy to drink. This cider sells millions every year, but itís been surpassed.

Certainly not as good as a proper bulmers in Ireland. It's a bit lighter and less flavorful, but still fairly similar. Gently sweet, very light peachy-orange color, and nice to drink on a hot day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared in Watford - bought on sale at some Tesco. Vintage 2011. Pours clear, deep orange with a reddish tint and a frothy film. Decent aroma, actually, with semi-ripe apples, some apple sauce. Medium sweet flavour with flinty notes, a slight artificial tang, juicy apples. Medium bodied with spritzy carbonation. Not nearly as bad as I had feared.

Bottle, 2011 vintage thanks to Leighton. It pours clear gold with a reddish hue and white head. The aroma is sweet, sugary, sweet apple, touch of apple skin and tannins. The taste is crisp, flat, sugary, apple, candy, touch of tang, hint of tannins with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Thankfully not as sweet as I feared. Not great.

Bottle shared at the Watford tasting, many thanks to Leighton? A weird reddy iramfe clear coloured pour with a fading white head. Aroma is artificial, dry apple, tangy apple hint of bile. Flavour is composed of dry apple, semi sweet, artificial apple, mineral. Palate is thin, spritzy carbonation, semi sweet. Terrible.

33cl bottle at home (8 VI 2016). Swiftly diminishing artificial soda white collar, topping a cognac-like, very clear orange brew. Neat looking cider with a nose of some vague spirit, wild yeasts (brett even), apple juice, geuze. The mouthfeel is pretty well carbonated, with a faint and watery body... all this hides a sweet apple, apple juice soda, mildly sweetened cider. This could have been a top cider, if it just had a firm body richer in taste. The fermentation clearly hints at a lambic funkness. A beautiful premiss, yet the whole is too faint. A pitty!
