From a bottle. Not that flash at all, I’d hoped for a bit more flavour. If you have to drink it really cold on a very hot day.

0.5l bottle shared with my girlfriend. Smells a bit more like a cheap Cava than a perry to be honest. It’s crystal clear and golden in the glass. Quite mild on the nose. I still feel this smells like a sparkling dry Spanish Cava added some sort of apple and pear extract. Quite sweetish and definitely fizzing. Really thin, near watery in the mouth. In the taste it has a sweet mild pear ice thing. Quite sugary. Lots of sweet apples also. Works if you are thirsty enough and directly under the steaming sun I suppose. My girlfriend didn’t hate it, I just didn’t like it very much. 16.07.2014

Bottle. A clear, pale golden perry, flat and still. Sweetish pear aroma with a little spiced hints in the far back. Rather sweet flavor with pears and white sugar, a little apple core note showing up towards the end. Sweet pear finish. Superbly uninteresting this one, too sweet, but at least not foul. 140927

Bottle from Co-op. Blond with a small carbonation. Not a lot of aroma but the pear flavours are light and flavoursome with a sweetness.

Bottle in Aviemore, Scotland. Pale yellow with no head and no bibles. Felt like I was drinking wine. Aromas were soapy. Flavors were better but not much. Pear and apple and blah.

568ml bottle for my local Co-op. Straw with a fast fading head and heavy carbonation; orchard aroma; extremely sweet pear taste; with a lingering sweet finish. Did I mention this was sweet - well it is.

568 ml bottle bought at Market Place by Jason’s in Mei Foo.

Pale golden yellow colour; Three-quarter finger head and soapy white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Very small lacing and fizzy carbonation; Tart and light sweet aroma of sparkling white wine, with apple flesh, light pears, light yoghurt, strong tannic and light wood; Light sweet taste of light pear wine, with light apple, faint pear, very light tartness, moderate carbo and faint tannic; Light body, thin but slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is fairly thinned pear juice with obvious apple presence. Everything else is low, from sweetness, tartness and tannic, they are low-fi, inoffensive and unexciting, only it’s somewhat slick palate being the bright spot. Hmm… Fairly dry after taste. Very easy to mouth.

Comments: With so many sugars being listed as ingredients (fructose, glucose, concentrates fruit juice), it is surprising to have a very non-sweet, subdued, and unexciting ‘pear cider’ here. Like Magners, its taste is paper-thin, only a slightly thick body saves it from being a drain pours. For easy drinking only, otherwise it’s pretty useless.

Appearance: Clear golden, slightly green, straw with white bubble head when poured. Aroma: Pear, floral, mineral. Taste: Low/medium sweetness and acidity with medium tannins. Palate: Thick smooth texture, light body, average carbonation, abrupt dry, fairly sweet, pear, white wine like finish. Comments: Tasty. But fairly insipid. I may have had it too cold?
