UPDATED: SEP 14, 2009 568ml Ƒ pint) bottle, green label (don’t confuse this with Magners Pear Cider). Pale golden colour, no head. Faint aroma of aniseed rather than pear. Medium carbonation, taste of ripe, sweet pear, but rather lightweight. Not as oppressively "floral" as some French ciders, this is actually a lean, very drinkable perry from one of England’s oldest makers of cider. Nice.

Bottle 56,8 cl. Pours a cear yellow with a rough off-white head. Lightly dry pear aroma with vague touches of peel and Brett. Medium body, lightly sweet pear accents with a lightly astringent finish. Even the commercial British ciders/perries are very decent - no Somersby shite here. 160110

500ml bottle. Pours a clear, light straw gold, with no head at all, as should be expected from a perry or cider. What I get on the nose, bizarrely enough, is amixture of musk sticks and unsalted peanuts. Odd, yet strangely alluring. The initial flavour is tart pear, mixed with hints of hazelnut and, again, peanuts. The finish mingles sugary notes with pear fruits, but is a little too abrupt. The peanut character present throughout this perry is nothing short of bizarre, nonetheless it is oddly enjoyable.

bottle - Pours pale gold-green and smells of, you guessed it, pears. It’s sweet and easy drinking with a pretty good pear flavor. There’s nothing to get exciting about here, but the pear isn’t overpowering and it’s refreshing.

My first Perry. 330ml bottle, Bulmer Harvest Cidery Gisborne, NZ. Pale to medium gold hue no head or lacing, massive effervescence bubbling all through and out the top of the flute glass. Nice pear aroma dominates, some musty basement aroma and a bit of spice. The pear sweetness I found more enjoyable than most apple ciders, this was my favourite from The Cidery. Medium body smooth and very well carbonated to the last drop finishing slightly dry.
