COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Special.
Dry style stout, without being overly roasted in flavour. It has been brewed with hops from the USA to give a fruity hop flavour/bitterness. It is almost black in colour. Brewed specifically for the Cambridge Beer Festival (May 2005), but available elsewhere.

Beautiful example of an English Stout - not too dry, slightly sweet, although maybe too hoppy? - but it works, so who cares!

Indeed it is almost black, although its possible to detect a red tinge if you hold the glass up to a strong light. Creamy coffee, soft malt and a hint of smoke on the nose. The aroma suggests sweetness but, on the palate, its quite dry with bitter, dark chocolate coming to the fore. Lingering, bitter finish. Not a rich, velvety stout, but very impressive. Bright bottled from cask (gravity), Cambridge Beer Festival 2005.

Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, gravity dispense. Black colour. LOVELY aroma of dark fruits with roasty notes. Flavour is roasty sweet and malty (too sweet?), some coffee and dark fruits notes.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Cambridge BF. A black coloure beer with reddish hints. The aroma is sweet and malty and the taste is more of the same. A quite nice middle of the road stout.
