COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
A new beer (March 2007) to the range, this is in the modern IPA style - low strength with a moderate hoppy bitterness and a degree of maltiness. Light brown in colour, this beer has a traditional style bitterness to it, with a slightly fruity/toffee aftertaste.

Ethereal (2399) - Los Angeles, USA - FEB 26, 2009
Cask at the Battersea Beer Festival, 12th February 2009. The standard amber looks and foamy head don’t give anything away but the nose gives foreshadows the coconut, almond, marzipan & icing sugar taste to come. Balanced nicely with a decent hop finish. Also gets points for annoying Americans by being labelled as an IPA despite being 3.6%! Not sure if I’d want to drink a haf dozen pints though, which is the true test of a session bitter.

Nutty with caramel, creating a sweet and slightly bitter flavour. The body is mid with a dark gold colour. Alright.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 2010. OK toasty beer. Not hugely hoppy, some dryness, but mostly toasted biscuit. Rather a nice session bitter.

Cask at the Kingston Arms, Cambridge. Gold with a thin off-white head; malty aroma; thin and watery with caramel malts and some red fruit flavours; the finish is slightly sour, long and spicy. OK, but not an IPA.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at Battersea Beer Festival.
Good clean light copper colour with a decent and lasting white head. Well balanced and full of malt and hops. Wheat and straw in abundance with some pleasant tobacco notes. Biscuity finish with a little bit of tea but I’ll let it slide. Not bad.

Cask conditioned at The Woolpack, Banbury. Amber with white head. Citrusy, grassy nose with a peppery character. The body is drying, malty and bitter with biscuit notes. There is then a whoosh of hops, grapefruity and slightly acidic, plenty of flavour for its strength. Good stuff.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2012 Cask conditioned - handpump - Wig and Pen Northampton. A copper coloured beer with whitish lacing. The aroma has good citrus hops. The taste is full of grapefruity hops. Very much in the mould of the new breed of hoppy English beers but this is less sharp and has a better malt base than most. Nice bitterness and excellent flavours for its low ABV. I am again impressed by this brewery. Score 3.7
