On cask at the Ely Winter Beer Festival, 2012. Pours a very dark brown colour with a decent light tan head. Aroma of pine, coffee, roasty malt and caramel. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and a dry finish. Nice.

Cask (CWAF2012)
6 Fruity hop aroma, some dustiness.
5 Black, brief spongy head.
5 Lemon vodka in the retronasals, and the main body taste too is just that. Really turns me off.
3 Smooth palate. Alas that lemon vodka is here through and through all the way to the finish.
10 Dear UK - don’t try to brew US style beers unless you really know what you’re doing (i.e. if you’re Thornbridge or Kernel...). This is mess and unbalanced, and the vodka is unwanted.

23/12/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (cask). Nera, riflessi color caffè, schiuma bianco sporca, morbida e molto persistente. Al naso è delicata, con sentori di malti tostati e luppolo ben amalgamati, note erbacee. In bocca è equilibrata, a metà strada tra una porter e una black IPA (o hoppy black ale). Corpo medio, consistenza oleosa, vellutata, praticamente piatta. Non male.
