Cask; Seasonal - November to February.
Brewed with malted oats, and even malted rye, this is a traditional beer style without the roasted flavours normally associated with modern stouts.

Cask, gravity, at Bedford BF ’08. Very dark brown or black. Sweet buttery aroma. Smooth sweet taste, full of dusty pencil shavings and sundry other waste items. Lingering bitterness. It doesn’t sound great, but I enjoyed this. Beer #4 of a day always goes down best.

Cask@London Drinker 07. Quite a dusty mouthfeel. Some roasted malt, but i thought it was quite unlime a stout. Mainly due to the green apple character. Not as fresh as it could have been. This is a classic case of how fragile cask beer can be, as Chris_o had it the night before and he was saying it was in good condition.

Cask gravity London Drinker BF 07. Very dark brown colour with no head. bit odd. Plastic. Some decent intensity but just a bit weird.

Gravity fed half pint at the London Drinker Beer Festival, dark black with a bubbly brown head. A fruity caramal aroma with a hoppy tartness. A smooth palate with a bitter finish. Sweetish malty flavours with definite oaty notes.

Cask (gravity dispense) at London Drinker Beer Festival 2007. The first beer of the day and, as it turned out, just about the best. Pitch black, with a thin tan head. Despite the commercial description, I did find plenty of roast grain character here. Bags of bitter chocolate and smoky coffee too. Quite smooth, with a touch of sweetness, but with a distinct bite too. Not a particularly rich mouthfeel but plenty full. Very nice indeed.

Cask at Maypole, Yapton, March 07. Black with a creamy ivory head, but not much of one. Malty aroma and creamy mouthfeel. Fruity and fairly sweet initial taste, with a long, sharp dry after with oaty hints. A bit of a struggle to finish this — not really to my taste.
