COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Special - February/March 2011 (Single Hop Series).
A German variety used for aroma in lagers and pale ales. First introduced in the late 1980’s, or maybe the early 1990’s, depending on which source you read. In fact the variances over the date of introduction seems to be the only factoid about the hop, so I’ll shut up. Unless you are interested in it’s Triploid derivation or its resistance to Peronspera. No, I thought not.

Cask (handpump) at the Pembury Tavern on 26 February 2011. I originally misread this as Spelt Select, so was expecting some sort of speciality grain thing. It turned out to be a mildly grassy golden ale with a light biscuity malt presence and a quite soft mouthfeel (not helped by the fact that it was rather flat). OK, but I’m not sure that this hop variety has enough oomph to drive a single hop beer of this type. Fine as a lager substitute I suppose.

Leighton (4095) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 2, 2011
Cask at Southampton Arms. Clear gold with a slight white head. Grassy, light pine nose. Flavor is faintly sweet, quite bitter, tones of earth and grass. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mildly sticky finish, grassy with weedy hops. Perhaps to much rtaw hops. Alright.

Cask at the Pembury Tavern on 25th February 2011 during festival. Amber with zero head. Biscuit malt and honey in mounth and aroma with an elderflower kick. Aromatic floral hoppiness then light sweet end taste of honey and malt. Easy drinking.

Cask handpull at Pembury Tavern. Pale gold colour thin white head. Some hop some cereal flavour. Touch of lager flavour touch of butter. Not great but unusual
