Bottle at Quinn’s, Camden. greyish brown colour, a smallish white head. Fruity aroma, rather sweet, almost like chewing gum. Taste is is still sweet and sugary, but the fruit adds some complexity. Astringent bitterness underneath. Well-hidden alcohol. Not 100% convincing.

Bottle @ Quinns. Deep amber with a thin bubbly white head. Sweet nose of toffee, malt, spice and orange. Candy sugar, yeast and a spicy hop finish, slightly unbalanced. Medium bodied. Nothing outstanding but it’s alright.

Aroma has yeast, citrus and caramel malts. Cloudy, orange coloured with a thin, off-white head. Taste is sweet with caramel malts, yeast and citrus. Bit unbalanced, further okay.

A Mes rate: Bottle sampled while watching Man U take the pistols out of Chelski at Stamford Bridge... you know where... Lightish brown with a VERY red hue and a slight film topping. Aroma is dominated by alcohol with notes of brown sauce and some very tangy sweet malt. Something very sweet and sour about it. Flavour is pretty much the same as the nose. Lashings of obvious but reasonably tasty alcohol. It’s drinkable but the alcohol is just too much. One for the beer monsters if you ask me...

Bottled. Aroma of drief fruits, spices and apple. Redish brown color, small beige head, fair lace. Very sweet, port, dried fruits, light bitter. Syrupy, soft and flat, alcohol well hidden. Bit of a homebrew character but somehow still ok.

Amber, clear. Creamy head, not stable. Nose with alcohol, portwine, cookies. Very sweet and alcoholic taste. Roasted malts and liqueurish. Peppery finish. Filling mouthfeel, warming, nice. An alcoholics' beer - but in the nice way. Dutch beers CAN be good.

Cloudy orange coloured. Spicy aroma. Yeasty and sour flavour. Nice, long-lasting finish.
