OK, so after a long night at the 25th class reunion, when closing down the local dive bar, this actually wasn’t horrible. nothing off putting, easy to drink, and no funk. Otherwise no great flavors, but cold and easy to drink.

12 ounce can thanks to Beau. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A light grainy nose. Nothing here, nothing bad or good: sweet grain, water maybe some honey. I could drink 20 of these! I want to in a sick way.

12oz can, thanks to b3shine. My can says it was contract brewed in PA, for Hudepohl. Clear pale yellow color. Little white head. bits of lace. Bready, salty, buttery and light banana notes. Pronounced but lighter carbonation. Weird body, has an odd finish. I must be missing something, here. Tastes like an unimpressive macro without really any appealing qualities, though nowhere near as offensive as the miller I had last night.

Can to pint. Looks fine; a transparent gold with white head that dissipates into lacing fairly quickly. Smells doughy and skunky, but not in a bad way. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Alright for what it is, and a good value.

A 99th percentile Pale Lager? It is not often you find stumble across one of these. When I brought it home I had no idea....
Pours a perfectly clear light golden with a small but kind of well retained head and lots of champagne bubbles in the glass and some lacing on the glass.
The aroma has that sort of Minhas house character... I’m not trying to be bias against them here, I had no clue up until today that they brewed this beer and I didn’t care that much for the aroma previously... now that I know it’s Minhas it seems very Minhas-y... which is not all together a negative thing... I’ve liked other pale lagers that smell this way. Lightly bready, some mild hop aromas (primarily floral) with some light metallic and vegetal character that doesn’t seem as nasty as it ought to.
The beer is really fairly pleasant tasting. By all means it is a pale lager through and through, it’s light in every way, but it’s also not neutral, and what’s more important is that it’s not overly sweet or corny... in fact it’s a fairly dry beer, crisp and nicely bitter.... with a well controlled corniness.
We’re not talking about anything wonderful here, but on most accounts I enjoy this beer and wouldn’t mind drinking it again.

Pours a bright clear yellow/gold with a medium creamy white head...decent retention and lacing. Aroma has light grassiness and spice...mild soapiness. Flavor has mild straw and light earthy/grassy bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium/full and the finish is crisp and dry...refreshing.

Uh-oh, Misguided Nostalgia Time. This was the first beer I ever drank: sips off my dad’s Burger when I was in grade school. When I asked him why he drank Burger, he replied "the price is right". Unfortunately, that’s stilll its main selling point. The sweet and sour smell (not in a good sour ale way) is much like the taste. Moerlein hasn’t quite got the original Hudy 14-K recipe, and that’s regrettable. The company has, however, seemed to hit the nail on the head in recreating Burger, and that’s also regrettable. Local Cincinnati beer folklore holds that Burger’s taste was much better until sometime in the 1960s when they changed the water used for brewing it. I call bullshit. Finding good water for brewing might have been a problem in the 19th century but certainly not by the mid 20th century at the latest. If you’re in Moerlein’s distribution area and have a hankering for a beer but not much cash, try Hudy 14-K or Hudy Delight instead. I sampled this paragon of brewing excellence at the MOTR Pub from a 12 ounce can poured (rather symbolically) into a plastic cup bearing a Bud Light logo. But yes, Burger is still better than Bud Light--what isn’t?

Aroma is grain sweetness and beery. The flavor is malts, decent hops, and a mix of bitterness and a hint of fruit in the finish.

Clear, pale yellow pour with a thin, white head. It has a corn/grain aroma with a medium body and average carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet with a slightly metallic finish.
