Not too impressed. Yes, it's ridicoulously cheap and has some flavor; but it's just not that good.

One of the most prestigious Pale Lagers out thereaccording to RB (and the cheapest to boot). Got a six pack of cans for 3.25. Golden body with tall white head that held descently well and left some lace. Smells of pale malt and a hint of herbal hops. Flavor is very clean: pale malt with some herbal hops too. Medium body with medium low carbonation. Glad it isn’t overly carbonated like most PLs. Overall: very sessionable and smooth and inoffensive. This is pretty much the same rating as my rating for Burger Light, this one is juts a slight bit better. Both very clean and smooth.

12 oz can.
Interestring, slightly distictive "comeback beer".
Check Wikipedia for the story,
To quote":Hudepohl-Schoenling operated in Cincinnati as an independent brewer until late 1997 when the brewery was sold to Boston Beer Company, brewers of Samuel Adams Beer. Hudepohl-Schoenling brands would continue to be brewed and packaged in Cincinnati under contract by Boston Beer Company, which had renamed the Schoenling Brewery "Samuel Adams Brewery." This arrangement continued until 2001 when the contract was not renewed by Boston Beer Company" (
But another guy stepped up and brought it back.
I am glad that he did,
This is an old school German-American beer that not the same old same old mass produced American suds.
12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is sweet, malty. Taste is also heavy on malts, some grains and a bit of sweetness, very easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent brew

Can sample at Muckfest 2009 Day 2. Pours clear gold with a thin white head. Malty aroma with lager yeast a bit of hop. Flavor about the same.

12 oz. can shared by shigadeyo. Pours light golden with a small white head. Aroma and flavor is grainy malts with light citrus. I do find both this and the Light to be better options than most BMC stuff, but they are still pale lagers. The Burger Light is slightly cleaner.

I have wanted to try this beer for so long but it’s just not the kind of thing you seek out. You need to wait for the Bürger to come to you. The can for this stuff is absolutely fantastic. It is red and blue and appears to have come from some decade in between the forties and the nineties that has never occurred. It has the classic styling of, say, a PBR can but w/ all these weird tacky accents all over the place like they’ve just been piling more and more stuff on there w/o every taking anything off. In any case, it is a decent beer but maybe a little below average even for what it is. It’s yellow, headless and kind of ugly. It is a bit sweeter than what is typical for the style but some additional hoppy bitterness saves it from tasting like malt liquor. Carbonation is just enough to keep it from feeling sluggish but doesn’t add any crispness. I guess I would say this is something of a disappointment flavor-wise but I am happy to say it doesn’t taste exactly like everything else which is half of what you want out of trying a classic regional beer like Bürger.

Deep yellow with a small white head. Grain aroma. Flavour is corny malt with a clean finish and some traces of hops. One of the better American-style lagers, but lets not get nuts here.

12 pack cans from Andersons General Store. White bubbly head. Sweet corn yellow in color. Plenty of carbonation. Corn and grains were predominant. Drank them ice cold on a hot July day. Very tasty and quenched my thirst. I liked it better than the standard macro brew alternatives. ie. miller and bud. I’d drink it again.

Not bad for a cheapie beer. Session beer and nothing else. Comparing it to beers like it at this price, not to shabby
