* Old rating, best before 01.12. Leckeres frisch-herbes Bier. Das Bier ist dunkel und malzig-frisch. Schön röstmalzig. Nicht zu tief mit einem Hauch Dunkler Früchte. Lecker dunkles Karamell mit einem Hauch Röstmalz und moderater Herbe. Lecker.

Pours opaque ruby brown with a short tan head diminishing quickly to a thin skim, moderate patchy lacing. (3/5) Nose is coffee and dark chocolate, roasty malts, liquorice, hint of smoke. (6/10) Taste is moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (6/10) Medium bodied tending to the watery, low carbonation, mildly bitter finish. (3/5) Yet another sub-€1 supermarket deal. I might be being just a little too low on the rating here (or maybe I was too generous with its Hefeweizen brother) but I think it’s if anything a little nicer than the Hefe. Definitely worth drinking, and one helluva deal at the price. (12/20)

500 ml bottle served in a shaker glass. Dark amber, difficult to see through, with an average, creamy and slightly persistent light beige head. Roasted and spicy nose, notes of vanilla, cinnamon, roasted malts, watered down American coffee, cocoa powder, light grassy hoppiness. Taste follow suite, roasted, slightly grassy and herbal, nice chocolate and mild coffee component. Quite sweet but nicely balanced with a small bitter component. Watery and so so easy to drink. Average carbonation, light to medium body, slightly oily texture. Agin great price/quality ratio. Pleasent dunkel.

Bottle from REWE, Buttenheim. Dark brown with reddish undertones. Brown sugar and prune aroma. Flavour was also sweet, with some added chocolate and roasted malt complexity. A bit one dimensional, but drinkable nonetheless.
