Das Bier schäumt im Mund zunächst auf, die röstige Malzigkeit geht so kurz unter. Dann getreidig herb, beides im unteren Bereich, weshalb das Malz im Vordergrund bleibt. Das Malz ist hierbei nur eingeschränkt aromatisch, es ist trocken und dumpf, nur wenig schokoladig. Auch im weiteren Verlauf nur wenig aromatisch, zurückhaltend, zunehmend trocken, leicht bitter. Nicht unbedingt gelungen. 11/8/7/8/7/8

Bottle. Sweet raisin/prune malt aroma with light astringency. Dark red-brown color with large head. Sweet raisin malt flavor with a moderately bitter/astringent alcohol finish. Okay - kind of rough.

Bottled 50cl. Courtesy of Quack-Duck. It pours a dark ruby brown beer with a small beige head. Very nice aroma of licorice, smoke, a lot of almonds, hops, candied fruit and raisin. Great taste which is complex and smoky. Low carbonation. Extremely drinkable and smooth. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. The beautiful hop profile really adds to this beer. A huge amount of almonds in the flavor too with accompanying hints of caramel, walnuts, licorice, dark chocolate. Not much lacework. Very long dry finish which is reminiscent of chocolate powder, almonds and walnuts. A fantastic beer! Thanks a lot Quack-Duck for this gem!

(draught, at the Bürgerbräuwirt, Wolnzach) darkest brown colour with a creay light tan head. aroma of honey, herbal hops, faint notes of toasted malts and cherries. flavour is strongly roasted malts and dark chocolate, light notes of herbs and dark fruit. strong-bodied with medium carbonation and a light roasted-bitter finish.

rbesg08 grand tasting, bottled. ruddy brown, faint plum in the aroma, a curious mix of flavours - banana, caramel, ham and a tinny finish. reasonably balanced and drinkable

Clear brown with large beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel and chocolate. Sweet and slightly sourish flavor with caramel and chocolate. Ends mild sour.

Dark brown beer with a lasting off-white head. Malt and toffee aroma. Dry with a fruity yeast or alcohol note and a touch of roast malt.

(6/29/08) Bottle sample at RBESG08 grand tasting in Plzen. Brown with a small beige head. Aroma is quite malty with caramel and light graininess. Sweetish malty flavor with light roasted hints and caramel. Medium-bodied. Nice.

Bottle) Pours brown. The aroma is malty and light roasted with notes of dark bread and raisins. Light sweet and light hoppy. The flavour is malty and light roasted with light chocolaty, dark bready and light raisin-like notes. Light hoppy with soft mouthfeel. Medium bodied.

Bottle @ the RBESG08 Grand Tasting. Hazy and amber coloured with a medium sized head. Malty with notes of rye, bread and a hint of chocolate.
