3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Chrism86 (294) - Melbourne, - OCT 10, 2009
First off, love the packaging! Pours crystal clear copper body with a non existent head...not overly attractive. Nose has caramel/toffee malt with typical spicy/floral uk hops making a brief appearance. Palate is low in carbonation with malt dominating. Finishes with a slight touch of hop bitterness & sweetness from the malt lingering. Overall a bit under what i expected, very much a sessional interpretation. Needs a little more presence from the hops IMO.

Bottle. Amber with slight carbonation. fairly standard bitter, with a touch of caramel, cereal malts, grassy hops and moderately bitter finish. Ok.

Just on cool and into a straightwall. Houdini disappearing head wanes back to a ring of white on the meniscus. Sparse for carbonation, minute in size amid its bright, tawny copper body. Sweet, biscuity toffee and dusty malt and hop nose, a little dank and musty. Malt driven, toast, pale wood and nutty sweet in the mouth, light and just a little thin. A hint of cardboard midpalate the only notable flavour flaw. A touch of orange marmalade in back, becomes dusty and rusty on the swallow before dropping off soft, short, with a delicate, subdued bitterness. Overall it’s a little too attenuated - I would love to see more body in it - But still an easy drinking number. (33cL, BB15/08/12, Dan Murphy’s Currambine)
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 bluebetty (880) - AUSTRALIA - DEC 12, 2011
Bottle from my beuatiful wife. Pours a weird brown copper colour with very small off white coloured head. Not the best looking beer. Aromas show plenty of mal though not overly sweet. Slight nuttiness with not much else going on. Flavours once again show off the malt though this is also a little odd. Not overly sweet. Mininmal hops on the palate. A little odd for my tastes.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Davros (1021) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - SEP 18, 2011
Pours coppery brown with a small quickly fading head.
Nose shows caramel, faint chocolate and nutty malt along with some soft spicy and earthy hops underneath.
Flavours are focussed on the aforementioned malty characters. Finishes quite sweet with a soft bitterness.
Could use more carbonation.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 davidm (1361) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUL 31, 2011
Bottle 650ml. Very nice malty bitter. Aroma is great once it warms up, with notes of caramel, toffee, and nuts. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and average length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a frothy head.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ComradeK (526) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - APR 14, 2011
650ml bottle. Pours a clear copper, with a small white head which fades reasonably quickly, and leaves acceptable lace. The aroma is very malty, with toffee and caramel notes especially prominent. Delicate floral hops start it off, with some citrus coming in soon after. It moves on into a smooth toffee body, and a toasty malt finish. A quite straightforward bitter, but probably the most faithful non-English reproduction of the style I have encountered.
