Originally, the farmhouse brewers of Wallonia would produce a weak Saison beer for the workers and a stronger beer to be aged & sometimes blended destined for the local taverns. This beer has a primary fermentation with a Saison yeast, then undergoes a secondary fermentation with a blend of Lactobacillus & Brettanomyces. The result is tart, crisp, slightly sour & incredibly refreshing.

A little sour and fresh aroma. The taste is similar. Nothing special really. Dry finish.

From the tap @DeRat. Hazy light yellow beer. Pretty sour saison, but in a good way, lots of taste.

On tap at Caf Derat. Medium sample. The aroma has light pepper, farmhouse funk, citrus. Bit hazy, golden coloured beer with a medium sized white head. The taste is light bitter and has citrus, funk, spice. Medium bodied beer. Refreshing.

Keg at the Kings Tun JDW, a pint in honour of it being rate 4000! Cloudy golden-brown with a clinging thin white head, a little too cold for my liking. Funky winey tart aromas, plus hints of citrus and strawberry. Palate is earthy, lightly sour and bitter, with barnyard notes.Touches of lemon and sherbet emerging as the chill lifts, along with a Bretty sour wine-barrel tang.

Ugjennomsiktig gylden med lavt hvitt skum. Aroma av sitrus og gress. Smaken er samme, med en tydelig surhet og noe krydder. Medium konsistens.

My Bottom Line:
This citrusy and tart Saison also shares herbal hops and hay in an effervescent mouthfeel.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the hazy blond.
-White wine notes also appear in the finish.
-This is not a textbook saison. It has lots of personality.
-Lime fruitiness shows up within the general citrus allusions.

A better than average saison. Light and crisp. A little pepper, some nice citrus notes and finishes surprisingly dry.

On tap at Nedre Foss Grd, december 2nd 2015. Hazy golden body with a small white head. Aroma is funky with hay and spicy farmhouse yeast. Taste is acidic with a mild fruit character, lacking a little saison yeast notes, though the herbal citric tones are nice. Fresh and dry finish.

Tap @ cafe Derat, medium sample. Hazy yellow to golden color, medium rocky head. Aroma of slight grainy malt, bit bubblegummy brett, slight flowery, bit white wine (although it was not the white wine BA I think), citrus fruity. Slight bitter in taste, bit dry, slight sour fruitiness, bretty, slight spicy. Easy drinker, good balance. Good stuff.

Light orange colour, hazy, very thin head. Medium body and carb. Nose has brett, not too funky, and coriander. its dry, herby rather than spiced, with overripe fruit. Refreshing and drinkable rather than exceptional.
