COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Burnside Lime Kolsch is brewed as a German style Kolsch made with premium pilsner malt and a touch of wheat and Munich malts. We then add Tettnanger hops, and ferment with the German ale yeast at 59 degrees to create a crisp, dry, and thirst quenching beer. Then the Burnside twist; we hand zested 200 limes, steeped a pound of Kaffir Lime leaf in the kettle, and added lemongrass to the bright tank. The result, a highly drinkable summer ale with hints of exotic ingredients from the east. Drink it with a lime!

Light body and noticeable hops flavor but without the bitterness. Lingering lime flavor makes it a good sipping beer. My favorite light refreshing summer beer so far.

Clear golden color, white head. Malty, lime taste. Lime aftertaste. Lime scented detergent scent. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness.

On tap @ Burnside. Clear golden beer with a white head. Smells more like lemongrass to me, but there is some lime in there. Light malt aroma and flavor, but still there. Kind of a cracker note, too. Somewhat tangy, perhaps a touch of limeade. It’s not bad, but not really a Kolsch.

Sampled at the brewpub. Clear golden with a wite layer. Lime hits first sip and it works well here. A nice base beer behind that. A great summer time offering.

Had on draft at the brewery. Light grainy aroma, light lime/citrus, grainy. The flavor is mildly grainy, very little lime character.

BottleA: Opaque orange - gold with a thin white head, a light lacing.N: Lime, kaffir leaves, very bready, some clove and coriander, white peppercorn, green tea.T: Sweet and a bit tart.M: Light body, a bit chalky, crisp carbonation, no alcohol presence.O: A Thai based drink. The underlying Kolsch is merely OK and this is decent if not memorable.

Bottle at Hop Haven. Nice lime taste. Easy going, lime is at the front. Bit of grain. Nice enough.

Lime takes over what might otherwise be a decent kolsch. Clear straw color with small white foamy head. Aroma is mostly citrus, lime. Taste also dominated by citrus, almost like a limeade. Would be a good summer time drink, I’m a few months too late.

Bomber from Last Drop.

I’ve been digging Kolsch lately, and I want to like Burnside, so I had to try this one, lime notwithstanding. Unfortunately, it’s a novelty beer rather than a kolsch. The kaffir leaf comes on quite strong in the aroma, dominating the nose. Lemon grass is powerful in the flavor, the other elements noticable.

Drinkable but not better than it would be without the lime etc.

Visual: Pours translucent pale orange with a small head, a thin layer of micro CO2 retention, clusters of very active streams, no lacing. Nose: mellow kaffir lime leaves, lime zest, overall bright citrus. (lvl-5)-pungency Attack: incoming sourness Mid-palate: very tangy, light-med sourness, fizzy-tingly, (MAIN) kaffir lime leaves, lime zest, barley malt, *hints* of lemongrass. Finish: lingering acidity, bitter lime peel, subtle bitter hopped barley malt finish. Summary: Discernable bright flavours just as advertised with a somewhat thin mouthfeel. Nevertheless, kudos to Burnside for creating a uniquely tasting yet very drinkable brew. It drinks like a better tasting Corona with Lime.
