COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Burnside Permafrost is Burnside Brewing Co.’s first winter elixir. It’s a big strong ale brewed with 7 different malts and copious amounts of Columbia and Amarillo hops pillowed in the middle to give this warming brew a chewy complex malt body and a unique fruity juicy hoppiness throughout. You won’t want to sip this dangerously strong and tasty beer like you should but pound it.

22. Pours a murky dark brown with a loose sudsy tan ring. Light sudsy lace. Big malty iced tea nose, blended with roasty brown bread notes and a little bit of faint citric floral complement. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Toasty dark brown bread mid palate with a little bit of floral counterpoint. Long brown bread iced tea finish.

Draft - Lots of caramel with a touch of hops. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Sweet caramel notes, light hips, some orange and a touch of heat.

[2/24/15] Draught at Burnside Brewing in Portland. Hazy orange-amber. Aroma of malt, caramelly and a bit candy-ish, and some piney and fruity hops. Sweet malty flavor with caramel, a bit of candy, some fruitiness, and a bitter hops finish with a light alcoholic note. Medium-bodied, a bit oily.

Pours coppery brown with a thin white head and somewhat cloudy body. Has big caramel and toffee notes in the nose with no apparent hops. Tasting notes are big carmelly grapefruit with a hint of chocolate and big sweet finish. Carbonation medium and a full bodied mouthfeel. Overall a nice example of the style with emphasis on the fruity end . Big and somewhat cloying, not a session beer.

650 ml bottle. Pours a hazy amber with light head. Aromas of candied oranges, toffee, and a boatload of toasted doughy malts. Flavors are similar. Fruity and chewy.

650ml bomber pours a pale amber color with a finger and a half of white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is citrus and caramel with some spicy notes. Taste is a citrus hop bitterness with a caramel malty sweetness. Medium bodied with good carbonation that satisfies the palate. More like an IPA than a winter warmer. Still an enjoyable brew.

Pours out a dark golden amber with a thin off white head. The aroma is well hopped with resin and light grapefruit notes. Light toffee and caramelized notes with toasted malt notes. A bit sweet with mild hops and tons of citrus. WEll balanced but a bit boring.

"Another solid burnside brew. Malty and hoppy in equal measure. Big, chewy and smooth. Strong, candied grapefruit, orange peel & caramel malts. Wish I could have had a bigger sample of this..."

Bomber from Malt &n Vine. Pours dark orange/copper with a beige head. Aroma of toasty malts. Med + body. Flavor is pretty dark malt, with chocolate notes, and a good deal of fruit. Definitely moves to toffee/molasses. Nice hop content, tho hop is second place. Good brew. It doesn’t finish dry.
