Burnside Permafrost is Burnside Brewing Co.’s first winter elixir. It’s a big strong ale brewed with 7 different malts and copious amounts of Columbia and Amarillo hops pillowed in the middle to give this warming brew a chewy complex malt body and a unique fruity juicy hoppiness throughout. You won’t want to sip this dangerously strong and tasty beer like you should but pound it.

22 oz bottle bought from "Roth’s Sunnyslope Market" in South Salem. $5.49 Pours a hazy darker amber colour with a nice sized cream coloured head. Very appetizing malty aromas (if that’s your thing) coffee,semi-sweet chocolate, figs, raisins come to mind..fruity hops. Taste similar to aroma a bit more sweet though! nice dark chocolate bitter aftertaste. Nice enough mouth feel medium to ow carbonation but its smooth enough over the tongue. Touch of alcohol warmth in the very end. I actually liked this one quite a bit..its a sipper though.

Bottle 1 pint 9 fl.oz. Clear deep amber, good creamy creme colored head, mostly lasting, lacing; rich aroma of roasted malt, caramel, brown sugar, raisins, dates, spicy, later quite some licorice and alcohol while roastiness continues; surprisingly smooth mouthfeel, taste light heavy sweet and medium malt bitter, milk chocolate, roasted malt, spicy notes; full body, creamy texture, average carbonation, aftertaste bittersweet, dark chocolate, hopbitter and roasty till the finish, alcohol; a beer like a meal, something to savour slowly, though perhaps a bit one sided tastewise overall quite nice.
