COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Burnside Sweet Heat is a wheat ale with an addition of 200 pounds of Apricot puree, then dry hopped with imported Jamaican Scotch Bonnet peppers. Reminiscent of a Caribbean chutney, Sweet Heat has a subtle tartness from the fruit with a slight spiciness from the peppers which also adds a fruitiness to the aroma.

Bottle - Smells just like my favorite Jamaican hot sauce, sweet and heat is right. Cloudy yellow with a thin white head. The beer is surprisingly intact, may others try to to a beer with so much heat it ruins it, but the wheat wine is actually left almost in tact to start. The heat and fruit quickly take over and you are left with the typical hot sauce after burn. One of the better tasting chili beers, but still to much to be an actual pleasant beer.

Bomber. Very cloudy yellow, cloudy pastel, lace. Lots of chili pepper in the nose, apricots, orange, wheaty. Very spicy peppery flavor, apricot, bread. Completely dominated by the Scotch Bonnet peppers. Not for me, but well done if you like this kind of thing.

Closuy yellow color with sediment. Medium carbonation. Aroma of Skunky pilsner. Sips medium and has a med carbonation. Slight citrus and hop bitterness. The finish has a slow creeping hot pepper experience. Apricot flavor is present in the afterbreath as well. Very crisp and biting with the carbonation. I could drink this brew all night surprisingly.

Growler fill. From memory. This is a nice sessionable beer with an aroma of peppers. Taste is moderately sweet, with a spiciness from the peppers that is just enough to be pleasant without spoiling the other qualities of the beer. The apricots were not obvious, it just had a fruity quality behind the heat. This makes a very nice complement to grilled meats, and it pairs well with grilled pork chops.

Bomber. Unclear pale yellow, foamy white head settles quickly and fades. Muted aroma of wheat, apricot and pepper. Fruity apricot taste up front, becomes tart/sour and citric, light wheat malt, subtle backseat heat slowly permeates. Average carbonation, lighter bodied, low hopped. Clean heat finish, interesting and enjoyable. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

Bomber. Thanks john. Pours straw yellow, with minimal cap. Aroma of peppers, over ripe fruit. Taste is sour, warming. Lingering pepper heat but not unpleasant.

I really liked this beer. The smell was delicious, sweet apricot. Upfront I could taste the apricot, on the backend the peppers. I couldn’t finish my whole 24oz due to the heat but still loved it.

Draft at the source. Hazy yellow. Aroma of lightly spoced straw. More heat than sweet, i’m glad I took my little purple pill before this one. Ouch.

Bomber from Malt and Vine. Pours hazy gold with a slight white head. Aroma is apricot with underlying spice. Med minus body. Flavor starts rather chili, and then the apricot comes out. Really quite nice. Makes me wonder what would have happened if chilies had been available to the northern european brewers several centuries ago. This is very nicely done.

22 oz bottle from Shmeal as an extra. Thanks a bunch dude. An interesting description there. Pours a decent hazed golden orange hue, mellow haziness leads to a good healthy glow overall. Well carbonated, gentle golden summer glow with frothy whitish head atop. Stays as a mellow layer, decent thicker ring with ok lacing, sufficient stick around. Aromas present gentle sweetness, applesauce and apricot, gentle bready malts, straw, mellow cereal grains and spiciness, subtle earthy and spicy peppers. Not bad, mellow and a touch sweet. Initial is lighter end of the fold, crisper bready and subtle sweet cereal grains. Bread, gentle apricot fruit and subtle apple. Crisp and clean, mellow fruity feel up front. The peppery heat element hits a bit into the middle. Slow but surely growing heat, a bit of capsacin, earthy pepper and spice. Lighter body overall, some subtle fruit is more up front. Touch of cinnamon, gentle bready and crusty feel. Backend is more spicy, the peppery heat gives a subtle light burn in the throat back here. Decent spiciness, the subtle apricot element really gives some decent play as it settles, some sweetness gives a gentle push, but the backend really gets peppery. Lighter session worthy body and light ABV, if you like pepper this might be the pepper beer you could drink for a long time. Crisp and lighter in body, pepper element isn’t intense but does provide a firm push into the backend and finish. Subtle apricot plays well, small bready and cereal body is enjoyable. A bit vegetal at times but overall, a neat experiment that does work overall. Not a bad beer, certainly drinkable. Nose is a bit vague. Flavors don’t really offer much until we get to the backend and pepper elements.
