Charred Walls of the Damned is half aged in a Finger Lakes Brandy Barrel, and half is aged in a whiskey barrel. It’s a Barrel Blend Belgian Barleywine/ Quad. Dark Fruit from the brandy barrel and Candi Syrup, and smooth whiskey notes to round it out. Named for Richard Christy of the Howard Stern show’s band.

Figs and plums on the nose. Malty goodness, brown sugar sweetness, more a solid quad than a barleywine- alcohol is present but still very quaffable. This brewery is killer and it is one of their better offerings.

Pours a clear copper brown from the bomber with thin ring of bubbly tan head. Aroma of bourbon barrel and dark fruity notes. Taste is even bigger, more balanced, less fruit more vanilla. Very nice, light carbonation, solid beer, but not as awesome as everyone told me.

Sample at strong beer fest. Checking this one off the list finally. A big rich sweet toffee and caramel barley wine. A little fruity on the aroma. Purple fruit, plum, raisin.

11/17/15. Craft on Draft. Dark brown pour under a nice tan head. Big barrel aroma, fruity, vanilla, oak, fudge, as well as caramel, candi sugar, maltiness, dark fruits, you name it. Smooth flavor, rich body, plenty of sweetness, caramel, barrel, dark sugars, fruits, and more. Tasty!

Wow, really smooth for such big abv. Nice bourbon flavor over dark fruit, candy sugar, brown sugar, Belgian. Really nice full mouthfeel without much brown. Nice!

Pours black with hints of brown around the edges. Thin faintly tan head that dissipates quickly. Caramel, Bourbon, and dark fruits strike the nose on the aroma. Taste follows the aroma. Bourbon and caramel are at the forefront. Seems more barleywine-ish than quad-ish for the base beer. Pretty good. A little thin on the mouthfeel, lightly carbonated but not effervescent. Pretty good beer.

Poured a dark mahogany color with aromas of chocolate, light dark fruit, some vanilla, light brandy and whisky. Flavors were the same, smooth aftertaste, smooth as hell, extremely drinkable for such a high abv. These guys are firing on all cylinders on each beer I’ve had from them.

Growler from Ale Yeah!, from the Burnt Hickory tasting. Pours dark, mahogany with a substantial, frothy, beige head. The aroma is figs and dark cherries up front, with some notes of red wine. Lots of caramel, vanilla, and oak in the finish. The flavor is sticky and sweet, with lots of alcohol, wood and earthy notes. Very heavy body, sticky, and very warming, like a good desert wine. The warm, fruitiness up front and the smooth, candy and whiskey notes in the finish work well together to make an excellent, immense beer.

Comes out of the growler an opaque chocolate brown with a thick and rather persistent light buff head that leaves some good lacing. Strong aroma has a core of brandy-infused oak plus notes of pear, banana, caramel and horehound. Flavor is fruity, woody - HOLY GUACAMOLE, ALCOHOL BITE LIKE A P---ED OFF ROTTWEILER - with subtle caramel and earthy notes. Texture is firm and smooth, yet quite fizzy and edgy, and leaves a woody, fruity, bourbon finish.
