Aroma was of milky chocolate with roasted malts, sultana’s, dates, caramel, some raw sugar and a touch of licorice/alcohol. Flavor was of smooth chocolate with, toasted malts, toffee, prunes, muscatels and dry licorice in the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a dry mouthfeel, thick texture and a good finish.

Had on tap at the Australian apparently in a ’schooner’ it looked good in the glass, lovely dark ruby colour with a slight yeastyness on the nose. The alcohol was quite well hidden by the heavy fruity palate, reminded me of dark raisins, had a slight breadyness to it.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 DuffMan (5187) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 7, 2007
On tap at the Australian Hotel in Sydney. Deep mahogany colour with a thin tan head. Bready and yeasty-fruity aroma. Toffee malt and a berry-fruitiness share the dominent flavour notes, with the fruit winning out to deliver a strange tangy twist in the finish. A bit oddly balanced, and a bit thin, but somehow this worked for me and I liked it. Shared with Parksy.
1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20 vanvenlo (914) - Glen Iris, AUSTRALIA - JAN 18, 2007
29 Apr 06 - Soapy, sharp hop malt aroma. Dark brown-red colour and reasonable head. Sour cherry and a touch of sweet malt. Thin, soapy malt hop disastrous finish.

1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 Choos (509) - Taylors Hill, AUSTRALIA - JUN 7, 2006
Aroma: some sharp acidic notes with a few old socks giving way to carbon. Appearance: dark brown with a smallish tan head that flattens quickly and leaves patchy/sudsy lacing. Flavour: sour notes that remind me of the smell of argentinian ants with a bit of carbon. Yep this is not good. Palate: thin but hard to rate as the flavour has really put me off.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 wenzeled (10) - AUSTRALIA - DEC 6, 2005
Some very nice toffee notes, a sweetish dark style, very tasty.
Maybe some lactic nots to the finish of the beer...not sure if they are supposed to be thrre or not.
Overall, well worth drinking
