MBison (445), Southern Highlands, Australia Mar 25, 2008 Updated: Sep 21, 2008RE-RATE: Bottle (750ml). Poured dark brown with a tinge of red and an average sized, tanned, dense head which was mostly lasting. Aroma was of milky chocolate with roasted malts, sultana’s, dates, caramel, some raw sugar and a touch of licorice/alcohol. Flavor was of smooth chocolate with, toasted malts, toffee, prunes, muscatels and dry licorice in the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, a dry mouthfeel, thick texture and a good finish. kempicus (218), Wellington, New Zealand Feb 11, 2008 Had on tap at the Australian apparently in a ’schooner’ it looked good in the glass, lovely dark ruby colour with a slight yeastyness on the nose. The alcohol was quite well hidden by the heavy fruity palate, reminded me of dark raisins, had a slight breadyness to it. DuffMan (2138), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Aug 7, 2007 On tap at the Australian Hotel in Sydney. Deep mahogany colour with a thin tan head. Bready and yeasty-fruity aroma. Toffee malt and a berry-fruitiness share the dominent flavour notes, with the fruit winning out to deliver a strange tangy twist in the finish. A bit oddly balanced, and a bit thin, but somehow this worked for me and I liked it. Shared with Parksy. vanvenlo (784), Glen Iris, Australia Jan 18, 2007 29 Apr 06 - Soapy, sharp hop malt aroma.
