COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Special - brewed for Cambridge Beer Festival 2005.
Dark for a wheat beer, refreshing with a hint of citrus and dry in taste.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Cambridge BF. Said to be a dark wheat beer but it is certainly not wheaty enough to be classified as such. A chetnut coloured beer with a fruity malty slightly wheaty aroma. The taste is faintly fruity and there are some caramel notes. Quite a tasty beer but not what it says on the tin.

Like most British "wheat" beers I’ve tasted, its not noticeably wheaty. And its not very brown either - more a coppery sort of colour (or perhaps Brown was the name of the parson not a descriptor for the beer). But its undeniably darker than most wheat beers. Sharp fruity apple character in the aroma. Less in the flavour. I agree that premium bitter is the nearest style for this beer but the higher alcohol level doesn’t make its presence felt too much either. Not unpleasant, but not what I was expecting. All a bit understated. Cask (gravity dispense), Cambridge Beer Festival, May 2005.
