ABV varies but is usually 6.0%-6.5%
NOTE: Not to be confused with the sparkling cider sold in 500ml bottles or the still cider available only on draught or in plastic containers drawn from the barrel.
More than forty varieties of vintage cider apples are grown in our orchards at Burrow Hill. In the autumn the apples are harvested, blended and pressed and the juice matured in oak barrels. Cider has been made on the farm for at least 150 years and the craft and traditions of cidermaking have been passed down through generations. Our cider is made from 100% Somerset apple juice.

1 litre clear bottle bought from some deli in Glastonbury. Appearance is clear and golden with a thinning head which rapidly diminishes. Aroma is Candi sugar; lemons, sweet honey, apples and fresh spring flowers. Taste is apples, huge sweet honey, candi sugar, lemon tart, a rough wooden texture, quite full on but not too aggressive, if you like sweet ciders you would enjoy this as it is excessively sweet, sure this has been kept in wooden barrels as I can really taste wood chips.

1 litre bottle bought from the producer at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Deep gold in colour and dead flat with no carbonation. Dryish aroma of apple juice, with a hint of the barnyard and some honey in the background. Flavour was medium dry with plenty of fruit, some oak and more honey, before a medium sweet finish. Very different in character from the dry, particularly the lack of fizz, but good all the same.

Aroma is fresh apples with the sourness of cooking apples, very floural with a good bit of roses. Taste is similar though not as complex, not so floural either.
