In December 1937 he rose to prominence with the publication of a powerful social novel about such workers, known in slang as Bindle Stiffs. In the story George and his simple friend, Lenny, dream as drifters do of a safe secure future. However their hopes are dashed like “the best laid schemes of mice and men”. Colour:Pale.
