Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 3, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) Completely pitch black and opaque beer with a creamy, light brown head. Marked aroma of burned malt. Flavour full of the same burned malt - almost coffeeish. Too burned for my palate. I really don’r detect the added brambleberries - only dryness and a pronounced bitter finish from the malts. 011005 Dixen (1465), Flagstaff, Arizona, USA Oct 2, 2005 Very roasted aroma, faint notes of some kind of berries. Jet black body, with a beautiful medium sized tan head. Very roasted flavor, cofee all over it, very dry and ends quite bitter. A lovely stout. Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England Mar 20, 2005 500ml sedimented bottle from Hogs Back. When opened this gushed out of the top. Pours almost black with a light brown, head. Aroma is chocolate malt and fruit with a touch of alcohol presence. Flavour is chocolately and slightly roasty with some fruit sharpness. Quite thin and boring, really. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia Feb 25, 2005 Very dark, almost black in colour. Long lasting dark tan head. Big roast coffee aroma, with some chocolate notes. Flavour is chocolate with some fruity berry notes. Quite roast in the finish, with a coffee-like aftertaste. Medium bodied, Not bad. Garrat (1132), Suffolk, England Feb 18, 2005 Updated: Jun 7, 2009From A Bottle.Nice gothic shades in colour, small head.Dark fruit and chocolate aroma, big tarty fruitness with dark chocolate and liquorice, quite bitter in the end with some malt.A bloody good experience. JonMoore (1561), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Feb 11, 2005 Black with a slim tan head. Fruity, edging on sour, roasted malty aroma. Similar taste, with a fruity sourness superimposed on a roast malty, hoppy stout. The blackberries almost don’t work, but it just manages to get away with it. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany Jan 31, 2005 Nearly black - still purple color. Small creamy layer of a head on top. Blackberry nose - also clay and chocolate. Mocca long lasting bitter taste. Some fruityness comes through but leads to a weird finish. pivo (2535), Germany Jan 30, 2005 Acidic sour nose, dark opaque brown color, low tan scumy head. Nice toasted, raosted malt up front, then a tobacco bitter. Unfortunate artificial and metallic aftertaste. Thinish, but with a creamy mouthfeel. OK, I guess.
