Bottle (500ml). At Smokeless Joe, shared with blankboy and tupalev. Poured deep deep red/purple brown with essentially no head at all. Aroma of prune juice, sour cherry, sweet chocolate candy and roast malt. Taste of tart berry fruit, burnt malt, licorice and coffee - this is *very* tart and bitter, moreso as it warms. Mouthfeel a tad on the watery side, very acidic, and flat. Overall it’s a stout, yes, but the huge infusion of tart/sour fruit juice tends to overwhelm everything - interesting, but not a winner for me.

Bottled. Black coloured with a beige head. Roasted aroma of coffee with notes of berries. Roasted flavour of coffee and berries with bitter notes. Too roasted for my liking.

(Bottle 50 cl) Completely pitch black and opaque beer with a creamy, light brown head. Marked aroma of burned malt. Flavour full of the same burned malt - almost coffeeish. Too burned for my palate. I really don’r detect the added brambleberries - only dryness and a pronounced bitter finish from the malts. 011005

Very roasted aroma, faint notes of some kind of berries. Jet black body, with a beautiful medium sized tan head. Very roasted flavor, cofee all over it, very dry and ends quite bitter. A lovely stout.

500ml sedimented bottle from Hogs Back. When opened this gushed out of the top. Pours almost black with a light brown, head. Aroma is chocolate malt and fruit with a touch of alcohol presence. Flavour is chocolately and slightly roasty with some fruit sharpness. Quite thin and boring, really.

Very dark, almost black in colour. Long lasting dark tan head. Big roast coffee aroma, with some chocolate notes. Flavour is chocolate with some fruity berry notes. Quite roast in the finish, with a coffee-like aftertaste. Medium bodied, Not bad.

Black with a slim tan head. Fruity, edging on sour, roasted malty aroma. Similar taste, with a fruity sourness superimposed on a roast malty, hoppy stout. The blackberries almost don’t work, but it just manages to get away with it.
