MrWalker (927), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 7, 2005 Bottle @ HBK Black Beer Festival, Nynäshamn Backlog 26 Nov 2004 Bitter! Slight off tastes of cucumber and rubber. Oxidized. haddonsman (1234), Derby, Derbyshire, England Nov 28, 2004 Bottled. Murky black, no head to speak of. Slightly toasty aroma with a hint of woody fruitiness. Far sweeter than most stouts I’ve tried, strange astringency in the finish. DeepBlack (387), Derby, Derbyshire, England Oct 21, 2004 Had on draught from the Cask in The Alex, Derby. No Sparkler.
This is a good solid Stout. Couldn’t really decern the Bramble influence myslef.
Nice but not as good at the Top Dog Stout, also from Burton Bridge. beerhugger (541), Oshawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 6, 2004 I had mixed emotions about this one - while I liked the rich stout pour and the unusual fruit (blackberries perhaps) aromas the flavour and finish were both found lacking. Overall it was drinkable but if you want a fruit beer you can get much better and if you want a stout you can get much better. why combine them. Dalle (1146), Skørping, Denmark Sep 3, 2004 Bottle. Black colour with nice head. Roasted, coffee, lightly fruity. Nice. johndoughty (2150), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Aug 23, 2004 Not as dark as some stouts but overall better than many,Quite complex with lots of interesting and pleasant flavours surfacing.Slight smokiness-a very nice stout. fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Jul 2, 2004 Dark color. Very good stout, good mix of dry coffee and malt sweetness; good texture, smooth. Long final. I can’t detect the fruits, but very good anyway! Excellent stout. Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Jun 20, 2004 dark coloured, little foam with big bubbles but a nice lacing, toasted mocha aroma, notes of black chocolate and some licorice, the body is rather thin, slightly oily with a robust bitterness, the finish is slightly dry and quite long with more coffeish notes - quality and character
