mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 28, 2004 black, tan head. sweet and roasty aroma with mulberry/blackberry/currant notes and brown sugar. very nice balanced flavour between the roasty malt, cocoa and burnt sugar of the stout and the berry fruitiness. well done! frylock (998), Buffalo, New York, USA Mar 25, 2004 Updated: Jan 21, 2005Aroma of port, figs and plum. Lightly roasted flavor notes of coffee. Low carbonation. Finishes with a bitter roasted barley flavor. Not a bad little stout. jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 22, 2004 Black with virtually no head. Sour olive like aroma. The flavour profile is a bit strange with hints of roastiness in the background hard to pick out from the distractingly sour acidity. Not entirely pleasant but not horrible either. Definitely interesting either way. DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England Feb 9, 2004 Hand pulled at the Alfred, Burton on Trent. Jet black, no real head, but some beige lacing. I couldn't really get the bramble here - there was some sweetness in the middle of the palate, but nothing demonstrative. Rich, smooth ale, not too much on the oats flavour, and thinish and metally. Medium dry finish - fairly short. I expected a lot of this one, and whilst it didn't totally deliver the goods, this is still a nice and rather unusual product. Mads Langtved (2246), Copenhagen K, Denmark Jan 28, 2004 Powerful. Pretty neutral aroma. Very acidic. Quite dry. Still sweet and well balanced. Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 22, 2004 The aroma is sweet dominated by brambleberries. The color is black and it has a beutiful light brown head. The flavor is dominated by burnt and brambleberry flavors. It has a very dry end. A very good beer. RichardGretton (3128), Leicestershire, England Jan 8, 2004 Black beer with a swirling head, mildly hopped aroma and a bitter flavour. A good bitter stout, but it lacks a quality to make it very good. CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Dec 11, 2003 (500ml bottle) Pours a thin, brown head and an opaque body. Nose of cocoa, coffee, triple bock and wine. Tart fruit flavour, coffee with a flemish sour taste. A new style - Flemish Sour Stout? Chocolaty finish. Good!
