Originally brewed as ’something different’ for a small beer festival, Porter has now become a regular beer of the brewery’s portfolio. A dark fruity beer with a distinctive bitter after palate.

Dark Ruby almost Black beer withvery tight head, the slow bubble break possibly leads to low aroma of chocolate and coffee. The mlts seem to be over roasted leading to a burnt flavbour dominating.

[Cask at The Three Judges] Black with a moderate ehad. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate and hop notes of freshly cut grass. Medium body, dry, roasty finish.

Bottle. Completely flat. Dark brown, slight malt flavour. Taste slightly ashy, but mainly non existent. A great disappointment. 17.4.07 Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Dark Brown with a small beige head. Faint sweet fruit and ash aroma. First taste is curiously muted. Then a warm, grainy middle and some late sourness. Bitterness too, which gradually intensifies. 500mL bottle from the LCBO. A good, red/brown murky pour, with short-lived cream head. A sugary aroma, and a note of something offputting that I can’t identify. Malt, a touch of hops, something metallic. Unimpressive and too light on flavour.

500 mL bottle. Dark brown, almost opaque. Significant crud. Thin beige head. Mild, slightly sour, fruity aroma. Surprisingly little flavour. It doesn’t taste bad, there’s just not much there. Body is thin and metallic (for a porter).

Half pint on cask. Ink dark. Low head. Lack of aroma. Dark coffee and hop flavoured water. Very diluted and rather tasteless. Disappointing for a porter. We left some of it for the drain (Served far too chilled at Trafford Arms in Norwich 24.09.2006).
