(Cask@St.Urho’s, Helsinki) Very dark red with a medium, bubbly head. Slightly sour-sweet, fruity and licoricey aroma. Surprisingly fruity, sweet-sourish, slightly wineous flavor. Medium-bodied, slightly slicky and moderately carbonated palate. A nice, smoothly wineous porter.

500ml brown bottle @ Smokeless Joe, Toronto. Reddish brown in colour, slight head, white in colour, filmy. Dryish, roasty and chocolately flavours. Long earthy malty finish, quite dry, lighter bodied than I’d expected.

500ml bottle. Very dark brown colour, disappearing beige head. Aroma of chocolate. Fine in mouth if a little grainy with more choc and some faint fruit flavours. Expected it to be a little more robust. Finish is not exactly sour, but watery really. It’s ok if not entirely stunning.

Bottle. Almost black beer with a gentle head. The aroma is dry, slightly roasted and smoked and the flavour is very dry, roasted and bitter with a very long dry finish. Overall a fairly plain beer.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry at Smokeless Joe. Pours a cloudy dark ruby-brown with a small diminishing light-brown head -- doesn’t look much like a Porter. Mild sweet aroma of malt, green banana, other fruit, sugar and a touch of chocolate -- doesn’t smell much like a Porter. Fruity flavour follows the aroma and adds some bitterness -- doesn’t taste anything like a Porter. So, it doesn’t look, smell or taste like a Porter, I’m not sure what qualifies it as a Porter but I do know that I quite liked it anyway. I look forward to having it again.

bottle. pours a deep copper-brown body with a small off-white head. the aroma has interesting characteristics for the style - namely sour grape skins and sweet raisins. also an interesting blend of flavours of sour fruit, grapes, apricot, faint chocolate, pine and spice undertones. an interesting take on the style.

Reddish brown with some head. Winish color & winish aroma, cider Aroma some apple and taste Medium, thin for a porter, British style and a good example of ot. Unique hops, bitterness middle-sip.Also some flemish brown sour.Bitter, cidery aftertaste. Sweeter aftertaste.

Bottle (500ml). Shared with blankboy at Smokeless Joe. Poured murky cola-like reddish brown with a decent lasting pancake batter light brown head. Aroma is most unlike any porter I’ve ever tried - fresh green banana, coconut meat, milkweed - very fresh and pungently sweet, perhaps a hint of coffee bitterness. Taste also veers from style, but it grows on you - very fruity, but it gets very bitter - like apple seeds, but I wish this had *some* malt character; at least yeast and dry hops are here. Mouthfeel is quite dry and astringent, flat (which is okay) and slightly light bodied. This may not be to style, but it’s very drinkable - seemed like an extra-bitter ESB with tart fruit character. Interesting.
