Aromas are fruity and somewhat smokey. Spicy as well. Taste is subtly sweet, and fruity. Bruised apples? Interesting. I really like this beer. Had it at Joey Capps a while back, but have since had a chance to rerate. Boutip (2350), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 13, 2004 Bottle: Poured a dark, but not completely black as expected, colored beer with a nice huge head with good retention. Aroma is mix of sweetness resembling port and some alcohol. Carbonation is good and body is quite thin with what I usually expect from a porter. Taste is light roastiness and coffee and more malts then expected. Overall, this is a very unusual porter but a very enjoyable beer. zippermouth (35), Newcastle, England

Beers like this make life living. Sweet with cream toffee and stuff and fruit. Yes. Rastacouere (5553), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 1, 2004 Relatively pale brown with a huge mountainous rocky light brown head. Big sniff full of chocolate, earthy nuances (almost sausage salty/smoky at times). Dry in mouth, more chocolate, slightly vinous peaks, dark fruits which are hard to identify, but I,'ll go with grapes/currant/apricot as it was vinous. Asertive bitter finish. Less carbonated texture than I thought from the visual, thin-medium bodied. Well made although maybe a tad too citric tart which is a characteristic I seem to have difficulties with when combined with any serious roastiness. I so want to try their IPA. Cheers Todd! | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 11/20 | Mar 4, 2004 Cloudy brown, large slightly rocky beige head.Winey fruity nose.Intitially nothing, then some light malt with a strange bitter end. None of the sourness noted by others is evident. This really isn't a Porter.
I don't care for this, but thanks Cap!!! argo0 (6891), Washington DC, USA

Aroma is sweet, caramel, some vinous, faint anise. Taste is earthy, vinous, some sour, finishing slightly burnt/roasty. Light/medium body. Nice example of a more traditional porter. tupalev (2612), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 17, 2004 Bottle. Nice pour, dark, but not completely black colour. Slight coffee like aroma. Thin, sweet taste. Certainly strikes you as unique and a different example of the style, but very difficult to explain exactly why. nickchalk (229), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 15, 2004 Hazy dark brown, small lasting light brown head; stays small, but stays all the way down. Lactic aroma of berries. Sour barnyard flavour backed by some roasted malts, this isn't typical for a porter, but I like it. This recedes to a short bitter finish. Creamy palate, medium body. I like the label and bottle too. Unusual, but nice. Bottle.
