Cask; Regular. Also available Bottle Conditioned.

Originally brewed as ’something different’ for a small beer festival, Porter has now become a regular beer of the brewery’s portfolio. A dark fruity beer with a distinctive bitter after palate.

Roasted malt and some strong coffee. Hazy, orange/red, medium toffee head, fair lace. Bitter chocolate, pontefrat cakes flavour, smokey, a touch of brazil nuts at the finish. Very good bitterness, and aftertaste too. Interesting mouthfeel, it seems to get drier the more You drink? Distinctive!

Another good Burton Bridge beer. This has all the coffee, chocolate and smokey flavours expected of the style. Initially the beer seems quite thin - but that just makes it easier to drink. I is VERY drinkable - almost addictive. Recommended.

Nuffield (3087) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - JUL 22, 2002

Thin consistency apparent visually, watery, shimmering in the glass. No head to speak of. Dark, rich red, but not so dark as to be opaque. Musty, slightly smokey aroma. Rich flavors--plum, sweetness like port, vinous. Yet, easy drinking, low on carbonation, and a titch of bitterness in the finish. (on tap, Market Porter pub, Southbank, London)

Sampled cask conditioned. Very dark brown. Earthy, murky, roasty nose with hints of licorice, which dips into a short, slightly water mouthfeel, and a salty really bitter finish. Dry and medium bodied. I have also on two occassions sampled the bottled version, but unfortunately it was Cantillon style acidic on both occasions.
