Bottled. Toffee and toast nose, deep black body with a dirty coffee halo for a head, thin feel but all the better for it, initial nutty sweetness gives in to a malt roastiness with a sour twist. I’ll be stocking up om this while I can get it. Lovely.

very classy stuff, perhaps drinking it out of a plastic mug at 25º wasn't ideal, but at least i had a nice view of a volcano over lake taupo. amazing aroma knocked me out - mango, chocolate fudge, vanilla. tastes similar to pitfield porter, has the sour marmalade on burnt toast thing happening. manages to be mellow and deep as well as sharp and acidic at the same time - like black ryebread. aftertaste is curious - right in the slot you expect the hop bitterness to go there's heaps of citric stuff, along with the expected bitterness and coffee grains. pretty damn weird and tasty.

500 ml bottle courtesy jerc, best before Jan 08. Dark cloudy amber brown colour with a fully lasting thick, creamy beige head. Chocolate, light coffee, and toffee aroma with licorice and root beer notes. Flavour is a letdown - tastes like a mix of 5% rootbeer and 90% soda water with some yeastiness, a bit of licorice, then finishing with a rooty and medicinal bitterness. Light bodied, fizzy and dry mouthfeel. Really not very good, perhaps just getting too close to the best before date. Given it has yet to reach that date though, age should be no excuse.

This Porter is fruity with a really different taste to it. I’ve never had a porter taste like this. It’s quite enjoyable. No real head. It had a very fine aroma. It wasn’t watery like some porters and stouts are to me. I really like this.

Bottle. Dark brown-black with nice lasting beige head. A very fruity porter, slighty sour, little roasted and dry, above medium body with low carbonation - soft mouthfeel, lovely balance and drinkability. Very pleasing and moreish.

Bottled sample via radiomgb. Dark cherry wood brown in colour with practically zero carbonation. Aromas of dark toffee, apple, cherry, and a bit of earth and coffee. Quite a bit of chalk in the mouth, along with a bit more toffee, and some charred grains. Some faint grassy hop echos resonate on the finish. Watery, but pretty much as expected considering the carbonation level. Probably an off bottle.

Bottle.Almost black with no head,aroma of apples,toffee and dark malt,taste is smooth and watery with dark fruit,licorice and malt,sweetish finish.

[Cask at The Three Judges] Black with a moderate ehad. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate and hop notes of freshly cut grass. Medium body, dry, roasty finish.
