Aroma is very sweet with notes of plum, caramelized apple and black currant. No roastiness at all! Flavor is slightly sweet with a noticeable presence of bittering hops and an odd tendency toward being a Flemish red without being too direct about it. Weird. Body could go a little easier on the carbonation in the bottle. Overall rather strange, not much like a porter but not unpleasant. Eminently drinkable and surprising. A fresh cask in superb condition resulted in a half gallon session when I’d just popped in for a flyer. It went down like a dark mild, delicious but to be honest, it tasted pretty much like a mild too. No assertive roast, burnt or chocolate hits. Pretty mild all round if the truth be known. If it had been badged as a mild I’d have scored it 4+. jimmay (232), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

One inch of head, beige in colour, remains for decent amount of time. Small to fine carbonation, a little sour taste. Aroma of roasted malt, faint hint of chocolate. daniel0017 (234), Yukon, Canada

I liked it, can’t say that I’ll buy this beer often but there’s a chance I’ll pick it up again just to see if my sense of taste is still with me. It is a very complex tasting beer to describe in under a paragraph, but that is what makes this beer interesting. It was VERY smooth going down, very easy to overlook it’s complexity because of it. In general I was very impressed. In a class of its own I would say. The mlts seem to be over roasted leading to a burnt flavbour dominating. Maltybones (60), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Aroma is a little fruity.....plumb or date-like. Similar flavours are present with very subtle coffee notes and a strong sour finish. Drinks silky smooth on the palate. Unusual for a porter but a little underrated. . matt7215 (1002), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
