Cask, Swan & Rushes, Leicester. Pale gold with a thin foam. Aromas are light apple and caramel with proper Burtonesque sulphur notes. Mellow lemon with buttered toast. Flavours are sweet caramel and citrus with clean hops. Dry on the finish with some spiciness. Decent.

Cask: hand pulled in The Crown Inn, Oakengates on 7th Feb 2012. Clear, lightish amber body: white foaming head that lasted the course and gave some good lacing. The nose was floral and fruity. The taste was interesting: a pleasant mix of flavours. Digestive biscuit maltiness with mild citrusy hops all jumbled together with a blob of yeastiness. I’ve struggled with some Burton Bridge beers over the years but this one seemed fine.

Cask conditioned handpump Wig & Pen Northampton. A light golden beer with a white head and lacing. There is reasonable floral bitterness late on in this but otherwise it’s a yeasty only lightly hoppy beer. Just better than average.

sm89walt (1419) - Norwich, Norfolk, ENGLAND - JAN 29, 2012
Cask - The Fat Cat, Norwich. Small and bubbly lasting white head, clear golden orange body. Lemon citrus on the palate, a fair dry and sharpish bitterness and a biscuity, pale malt base. Nice bite at the back, subtle Burton sulphur and a deceit juicy character mid palate. Light to medium body with a lingering finish and soft mouthfeel.
