(Cask at Edgar Wallace, Strand, London, 18 May 2011) Dark amber colour with foamy, beige head. Malty nose with nuts, caramel and chocolate. Malty, nutty taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, hints of chocolate and a mild citrussy bitterness in the finish. Rather thin body, with balanced sweetness. Quite nice.

Cask, The Crown, Nuneaton. Deep ruby with an off white rim. Rabbit toilet bouquet with a generous squeeze of green. Earth, mildew, sesame and coffee dankness, hint of choc. Rustic, earthy mild with some unusual hop squeezings. Pretty good once you get used to it.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2007 Cask, The Grove, Huddersfield. Nice enough mid reddish brown beer with off white head. Aroma lightly toasty and slightly soapy. Slightly cloudy appearance. Sweet and light, some hoppiness, shortish finish. An OK mild, drinks weaker than ABV of 3.9 would make you think.

Cask (handpump) at the Flowerpot, Derby, July 2005. Deep red colour. Dull, vaguely malty aroma. More fruity than malty, but there’s no great depth of flavour. Light bodied. A reasonable quaffing mild, but doesn’t bear further scrutiny.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel Northampton. A ruby coloured mild with a tan head. The aroma is quite thin with only a little mocha and fruit. The taste is lightly fruity and there is also roasted malt. Ok only.
