COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Special (Gold Medal Ale series) - March 2007.

On March 17th 1845, Londoner Stephen Perry unleashed a power on the world by patenting the elastic band. They are now produced in their millions, with the world’s biggest user being the American Postal service. Although three quarters of the world’s rubber is synthetic, rubber bands are still made from natural rubber for its superior elasticity. Rubber band is also a slang term for a rich dude, who carries his cash around in a bundle secured by a rubber band.

Half pint pulled at The Market Porter at London Bridge (London), a clear amber with a bubbly white head. Difficult to pick up any aroma, just a touch of malt. A roasted malt flavour with some definite chocolate notes. More hoppy through the swallow, with citrus flavours. A good smooth bitter.

Cask handpull at Ship & Mitre, Liverpool. Copper colour with lasting beige head. I expected a bit of pear fruit to be honest. Instead this is a pretty standard bitter, some caramel, some hop. Fine, it’s just that it’s a bitter and after an hour or so at this pub, I do get bored of bitters.
